Best Shoes for Squatting?

Metal makes a great squat shoe if you want a flat shoe and don’t mind spending a bit extra. I think EFS sells them now.

Well StormTheBeach I have to partially agree, I think to many people worry about the small things looking for a magical solution to lift more weights. However it does matter unless you only squat like 300lbs, which I’m hoping you don’t but I don’t know, in fact I would say that the more you lift the more it does matter.

That’s what I was getting at.

And a good way to add 100lbs to your squat would be to add 100lbs to your squat. Is that snide enough?

Mmm I dunno squatting in wrestling shoes just don’t feel right. But like he said personal preference try it out…I’ve tried it before and didn’t like it much.

As for chucks, if you get the adidas they are quite nice as well.

2-SCOOPS doesn’t care much for his oly shoes as well because he is a wide stance squatter…when he’s equipped…I mean I’ve never seen someone equipped with a real wide stance wear oly shoes.

Don’t discredit the oly shoes though…but for them it depends on how you squat…if you squat a bit wider than shoulder width they are great, or even more narrow than that. If you squat wide like 2 SCOOPS picture they aren’t going to be good lol.

lol well said. But to be fair, I did try them for some narrow stance and hang clean/snatch and jerk work. I just didn’t really care for them, but yes, do not use them for wide stance work lol. In all honesty OP if you haven’t bought oly shoes yet and you want a pair, I haven’t used mine in about a year and I bought them brand new, they are the adidas ironwork 2 and size 9.5 I think. I wear 10 to 10.5 street shoes and they fit me. So if you are interested send me a message, that way you can get the shoes you want cheaper…if they are the right size.

And yes that was snide enough.

i like squatting in my socks after i take my shoes off. I’ve really been enjoying this lately.

Wrestling shoes. They are cheap and great for deadlifting too.

I love my wrestling shoes, I might spend some money of Safe’s elevated shoes though…

I have done the workboots, it wasnt worth it at the time becuase I was a dive bomb squatter. I might try them again someday though…

I use the Adidas Adistar weightlifting shoes, they are AMAZING! The stability compared to normal shoes is night and day. Especially with oly lifting obviously but they are equally awesome for squatting.

I used to primarily oly lifting and used oly shoes. I now squat in sambas and the difference is pretty negligible, but my feet have stopped dancing around during squatting.

Thanks everyone for all of the advice. I’ve got some options to start experimenting with. The Adidas Weightlifting shoes look like the right thing for greater stability. Certainly greater than the ratty old running shoes I’ve been using. The’ll also look great with my powder blue leisure suit!!
