Best Martial Arts for Fighting?

And what do inmates do all day? What’s their only form of recreation besides rape? Right…pumping iron.

Is there a type of martial arts, seriously, that’s dedicated to using a baton? Do you get a baton?[/quote]

Inmates don’t get iron in new prisons and if it gets worn out it doesn’t get replaced in the old prisons. That doesn’t stop them from getting huge though. They have cardio machines and various other stationary stuff we supply.

They use what they can to make weights. Net bag medicine balls, bags of water, and body weight exercises go a long way. One inmate will sit on a sit up bench while another lays under it and presses it. They are creative when it comes to exercises. They eat a lot of mackerel and peanut butter from commissary for protein.

As for batons, no we don’t normally carry them, but yes there are self defense styles made for law enforcement dedicated to using batons. Disturbance Control will come in with them in a riot situation, but normal duty carry is yourself, handcuffs, and a radio. No mace, no tazers, none of that bullshit you see on television. You sir, are crazy! I wish I had some suggestions for you. All I can do is wish you good luck.

Kali (Phillipino street-fighting/eskrima), Boxing and Judo.

Kali will give you a lot of inside moves that in a close setting will help a lot. I love this martial art. It is a street fighting martial art.

Boxing, will work on your stamina and speed.

Judo, will help w/your throws and if fall help w/defense. So,you can get up right.

Good luck.

“Therefore one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the most skillful. Seizing the enemy without fighting is the most skillful.”

“So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will fight without danger in battles.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.”

boxing > all - i have been in fights. ive been on the ground. i know… the most important things are punching and being strong

I hate when this topic gets brought up. There is no such thing as a martial art…pretty much every martial art has aspects of other martial arts. If I punch someone in the face am I practicing boxing? or kempo? Not really…I know this sounds corny but toughness and heart wins fights. I would much rather have a fuck you I dont care attitude than be a black belt in some martial art. In a one on one situation it is good though to have a good wrestling background and know how to control the ground. But I firmly believe that most of the martial arts people are naming are NOT effective in a real street fight. Come on now…some guy bum rushes you with a flurry of punches and grabbing you …its total chaos…you think karate is really gonna help you there? I have been in countless fights and I really have never been able to command a street fight so well as to turn it into a real boxing match…in fact the only time I have had the real advantage is on the ground…but I would not advise that for you since you could be going up against multiple people. Some people are tough and some people arent…are you a tough person? If you are intimidated by them you have lost already…not saying you are…just saying in general…
