Not in the scenario where he is already hell bent on ending your life, especially if he has a blade. If he can get close enough to touch you, then you are most likely dead, and if not you’re going to definitely take some damage and must completely take him out (kill him) very quickly.
You aren’t going to be pulling out your firearm and using it though at that range, especially under the stress of trying not to become a pin cushion. The general rule is that you need 25 feet between you and your attacker with the gun already drawn and pointed at center mass if you want to be able to effectively stop them from reaching you should he/she decide to charge. You need considerably more if you want to draw your weapon first.
Even then you need extensive firearms training, need to know how to move off at angles at the right moment (or put some sort of obstacle between you and your attacker to slow their pursuit), and most likely will need to reload your weapon.
It’s not like in the movies where you just point your gun and shoot and the attacker dies. It’s a very difficult thing to pull off, especially under high levels of stress.
Fair enough. Could I then just let him/it charge toward me then duck in the last minute where it trips over me then I point and shoot a close range?
Edit: In the scenario where someone is actually hell bent in ending my life I am bent twice as calmer to defend it and end his if necessary. That is why I agree with you my action would be to kill him swiftly. It’s part of my psyche that upon recognizing evil such discernment liberates my conscience to act without remorse - so the madder he is the better and the most efficient action will yield from me.

lol, if i’m charging you and you just duck down you’re going to get bowled over and possibly knocked out.
True. The attacker is going to have a lot of inertia/momentum behind them and there is a good chance of getting bowled over. Now, if you were to actually “hit the deck” at the last possible moment (which to be honest would be pretty tough to do), maybe you could get them to trip over you. The problem though is if you didn’t time it right, gave away your intentions, weren’t quite fast enough, or they didn’t actually fall from the trip but instead just stumbled; now you’ve lost a great deal of mobility, are on the ground and they are going to continue their assault, along with now being able to stomp your head and use gravity against you.
Not saying that it couldn’t possibly work, but I wouldn’t bet my life on it.

Yeah. People under estimate circular movement patterns. If the guy is charging towards you, he’s going to have some serious difficult slowing down, stopping and moving sideways. You use that to your advantage. Move/jump to the side. You don’t have to always confront him directly. You can try going around him.
edit: Sento, forgot to thank you for your post on bites. Good stuff.

You obviously have no confidence in women and what they can do when they are not afraid of you.

Are you kidding? Have you ever rolled with or sparred a guy HolyMac’s size? Going hard? It’s like fighting a tsunami. I’m not saying you couldn’t do damage, or very possibly even prevail.
But these ninja scenarios you are coming up with do not in any way reflect my experience of training with large people.

No, I am not kidding.
I grew up in Brazil in a city where the carnival was on the streets. Large crowds, big passionate people, heat and rage and had to take blows and get out of the way.
I have also seen close range how to crack up a bottle and go for someone’s jugular.
All I am saying is that it can be done.
His attitude is always, always:
“hahaha” “lol”.
I disagree.
Never underestimate your opponent, even if you perceive them as “victim”.

Winning the lottery can be done too, but you shouldn’t bet on it.
Surviving a bullet to the head can be done, but you shouldn’t bet on it.
Holy Mac setting off the lunk alarm in planet fitness and video tapping it could happen, but you shouldn’t bet on it.
LOL, just kidding Sorry.
Jokes aside, you’ve seen how to crack a bottle but have you ever done it?
You might have been pushed around and taken “blows” but trying to escape being knocked over by someone Holy Mac’s size who is committed is very different.
Seeing something happen, thinking about it happening and then it actually happening is like comparing apples, to oranges to cows.
If it was that simple, this thread wouldn’t exist.

Look,Alpha. What HolyMac said wasn’t an attack on you…nor your femininity. It was a logical response giving the statement you made. Sentoguy pretty much expanded on what HolyMac stated, yet you’re not getting all pissy with him. I think you’re overreacting…and off base. This has a lot less to do with you being underestimated as a woman…and has no bearing on if you’re afraid or not.
Why does this even have to be pointed out when you’re asking all these hypothetical questions about self-defense in the first place??? And if his use of “lol” is all that got you pissy, then maybe you need an interwebz break…just sayin’
