“THE COMBUSTION BECOMES AN EXPLOSION!”

Ong Bak 2 looks like it’s going to be SWEET.

I dunno - some of the related ones were even more awesome!

I admit that these were not “fight movies”, but all of the Bourne movies had great hand-to-hand combat scenes.

The fights were fluid, brutal, and effective…

LOL. Touche.

I liked Annapolis for a few boxing scenes.

Anyone seen Redbelt? Is it any good?

I’m not a martial artist (browsing this thread for ideas on movies to watch) so I can’t really comment on whether the fighting is realistic or not. But, I watched the movie and loved it.

It’s very different, though, as movies go. Its directed/written, I think, by David Mamet…so right there you know its going to be different.

Many of the plot twists are fairly abrupt and can leave you feeling pretty unsettled. But I’d say its definately worth checking out.

I saw Redbelt last night. The fighting was okay, there were some good moves, but everything cut away before you could actually see what they were doing. It kinda bothered me that their ‘UFC’ fight had one guy in a gi and the other not.

Also his catch phrase bothered me - there are situations that you can’t get out of and there are situations where there is no escape.

I like Mamet, so I enjoyed the strangeness of the dialog and the open ended plot lines. I watched it with a group of 20 something non-fighters though, and they all hated it.

Look for a movie called Chok Dee. It is a movie by Dida Diafat (famous French Thai boxer) and is pretty good. Also I liked the Thai movie Muay Chaiya, it’s about the mafia side of Muay Thai in the 80’s.

Saw Chok Dee, that was some inspirational shit[/quote]

Watched it yesterday. What Xen and JohnnyTMT said!

It’s good…

But not as good as this:

Back on topic - I liked the fighting scenes in many movies - Ong Bak, Oldboy, Million Dollar Baby and (of course) They Live.

Word. They’re taking it in a completely different direction to the original and it looks promising as hell.

Trailer: - YouTube

The Protector hands down. Its hardly a movie, Tony Jaa just goes from place to place beating on people with no explanation how he got there.

terminator although very unrealistic the way he throws people through doors and criples fingers can not be beaten…very cool!

Saw Ong Bak 2 on Sunday. OH MY GOD. It is awesome, so much cool action. I don’t know if/when it will come out in the states but you guys have to see it.
