Best Exercises for Neck?

Then you don’t really want a thick, strong neck. Yes the traps will grow from deadlifts and shrugs, but for complete neck training, you need to also hit flexion and extension. If you don’t want to do this then don’t ask for advice on a forum about the best exercises for neck.

lol that video was hilarious.

I dunno about shrugs working the neck brother…sure they work your traps but your neck per se i doubt it…[/quote]

I think I agree. Also a thick neck doesn’t look good imo. Big traps are cool though.

Big traps with zero neck looks bad also…huge necks are cool as well, like rugby players for example…

^Bad pic. That dude ended up getting super huge before he disappeared and his neck was in proportion. I think that is mostly the angle.

That’s Capriese Murray. He trains clients and works out at my gym. His neck always stood out as a major weak point(only saw him since 2007, though. I think he retired by then.). As far as traps, I think his shoulders just won’t come down on their own. So if he forces them down, the traps stick out big time. But normally, the shoulder line just looks square, Steve Reeves-ish. I have the same issue, but not to that degree. Otherwise, he looks awesome. Crazy width, taper, lines, muscle bellies…

How is he looking now? He was one of those who everyone watched when he first hit the scene and then he dropped out sight completely. I always think something went wrong when that happens.

Lol, he went physique. Google “Capriese Murray Physique”

Funnily, I saw this pic of him in board shorts posted at the front desk today.

I was wondering why he’s lost even more size in the past year or so.

I think there was some interview with him a while back, but he was vague about his reasons to quit shortly after the pro card. Didn’t want to ruin his health cause of his kids, or something like that. He had a scare with some health issue and decided to tone it down, I guess. He hangs with Martinez at another gym too. And Martinez used to train here as well. Maybe still does.

I’ve started training my neck more directly bought a harness use it on a cable stack if I’m at the gym. Neck raises front and back. Wrestlers bridges. Also Im “practicing” chin tuck holds for time and while deadlifting and squatting for postural balance. Losing weight and my neck has grown at least half an inch in almost 5 weeks. Thick necks not just traps look badass.

Big neck and shoulders just denotes a sense of power. I doubt if anyone saw someone with a 20 inch neck pussy would be the first word that popped into their head.

If that’s all it is, the compound exercise I think would be really effective would be safety squat bar box squats with bands and chains while wearing a neck harness, as I demonstrate here

You owe me one new keyboard, coffee has just been sprayed all over my old one, I’m holding you responsible!

Brilliant.

Holy Crap.

I had pics of him dwarfing normal sized humans. There had to been some significant health issue because in Victor Martinez’s Titans video he shows up for one scene and they are both about the same size.

It really makes me wonder just how much some these guys are taking for that to happen.

aaaaaaaaaaand, the dude needs a fucking neck.

He does fit the “small forearms too small to have built that arm size without BIG help” standard.

I guess smaller necks can be added into the CSI research now.

You seem to only see things like this on guys who never could have gotten anywhere near that size without help.

It is damn hard to build HUGE biceps without big forearms unless those biceps didn’t come from a alot of heavy weight.

He trains with light weights now. But those pics don’t do him justice. Even today, he still looks very impressive in person. Strangely enough, I’ve never seen him train the neck. You’d think that with the bb mindset he would prioritize it… Maybe that health scare was neck related! [/semijoke] He’s a nice, real chill guy. Only good things to say from my limited interactions.

Wow
That’s a pretty crazy “before and after” photo
In your opinion, which photo does he look best in? Just curious.
Those quads are pretty insane.

I don’t have a habit of looking at guys to see which one is the prettiest. I am more impressed by extreme muscularity in general. I couldn’t care less about fitness modeling.

He looks more impressive as a BB, and better as a physique guy.

Question, why ask what I think and then criticize my response?

If I say anything at all negative about his physique you will only criticize that as well.

Even when he was bigger he always looked a little awkward…which is where his nickname came from. He still has those same physical issues now. I don’t see that as being “prettier” now.
