Best Dance Movie

I think a lot of you are young and dumb enough to think movies like Hairspray qualify as one of the best dance movies of all time.

You would be dead wrong (that’s ‘crowd booing/throwing stuff’ dead, by the way which is REAL dead in the dance movie world).

I want to know if there is a movie out there I’ve missed that upon completion of watching it makes you feel like starting a dance battle…or one so well done that you’ve seen it 500 times and practice the moves over and over.

For instance, anyone who calls themselves a man should know by now that You Got Served quite possibly single handedly changed pop culture world wide. The ‘Step Up’ trilogy doesn’t become such a popular movie franchise for the hell of it.

So, what movie slapped the shit out of you and made you pay attention?

PS, If you don’t mention the name “Channing Tatum”, a guy with blades for arms will be by shortly to remove what is left of your testicles.

Shit. Can’t believe I’m getting involved in this thread, but Footloose is the best dance movie by far. Ren, a young uproot from Chicago, moves to a small rural town where the authoritarian Reverend has banned all dancing and rock music. Falling in love with the Reverend’s daughter, Ren is forced to play chicken while driving a tractor.

After an impassioned speech to the city council, in which Ren quotes scripture, the Reverend realizes his mistaken ways and asks his congregation to pray for the teens who are now holding their prom outside the city limits.

The soundtrack alone includes “Footloose”, “Holding out for a Hero”, “Lets Hear if For the Boy”, “Dancing in the Sheets”, and “Almost Paradise”. Goosebumps just thinking about Denience Williams singing “Let’s Hear it for the Boy”.

Besides, I took Sue N. to the movie and kissed her in the theater parking lot, my first. Also cementing the fact that somehow girls find me somewhat attractive despite having no game whatsoever.

Singin’ in the Rain

Honey, I can’t believe I just wrote that. Jessica Alba was just becoming the hottie she would become, she had just died her hair from the jet black in Dark Angel and was just becoming a star.
