Couldn’t find a link to it but the movie, ‘Youngblood’ has a pretty sweet training montage.
Oh, and it happens to be one of the best hockey movies ever made.
Keanu Reeves as the French-Canadian goalie. Brilliant.
So, in a nutshell, Rob Lowe is a “can’t miss” prospect invited to a major-junior camp “…up there, in Canada” who has to fight for the first time and gets his ass handed to him by the resident goon. He loses the fight, loses his girl, quits the team, and goes home…
For the training montage!
After an inspirational speech from his older brother (basically reaming him out for quitting), Rob trains hard. Weights, music, drills, heavy bag, and even a little jersey-pullin’ wrasslin’ match with the old man. Yep, his Dad teaches him how to fight on skates, and then he’s ready for the comeback to lead the team in the play-offs, nail his girlfriend again, and beat the shit out of said goon in the movie’s climax.
Sweet movie. I was a kid when I first saw it. And it has Patrick Swayze in it, how can you go wrong?
He’s no Eric Roberts, “Pop it Tommy! Pop it!” in Best of the Best, but not all of us are that gifted dramatically.
Great thread by the way! These movies are fun to think about.
