Yess!!! I love that show. Adam Richman must have one massive stomach. Really don’t know how he does it.

I went to a burger joint in London, around Hoxton Square, called the Red Dog Salon, and I ordered their biggest burger, The Devastator. Couldn’t even finish half of it. I wanted to be Adam Richman and I failed.

Funny how that burger doesn’t look too big in that pic. Doesn’t look as big as the burgers I’ve eaten in the States when they put it in front of you. That’s why I was so confident that I’ll finish it. It does taste lovely though. I love pulled pork.

The picture is the first one in the gallery.

On paper it looked doable, but there is no way.

There’s a very hospitable display of tequila there too. That burger does look suspiciously doable in the picture, I might check that out too sometime.

I spent a week in England. Best beef I had there was from fucking McDonalds. Is there anywhere to get a good burger in that country?

Burgers in general aren’t as popular here. You won’t find nearly so many burger joints here compared to America, having said that, you can find some places that do good ones. Regardless, the best burgers to be found are in my kitchen home made

Not lots of good choices, but there are some really good ones being sold on the street. There is one Italian guy who has a food stall called Tongue n’ Cheek. He makes a burger called ‘the heartbreaker’ that has ground chuck, ox heart, tripe and a few other crazy organ meats all ground up and put into it. I kid you not it is one of the best burgers i’ve had. Eating that thing is a religious experience!

You can see a couple shots of it in this shorter film i made on this one group that puts on street food markets here…- YouTube

Yeah I guess I’ve been a little enigmatic with that.

Normally whenever I decide to re-watch a great film, I’ll change the picture to a movie poster of it. Usually not a commercial one, but I try to find an alternative fan-made one that I like a lot more artistically. Basically it’s to signal that if anyone is interested in the poster, or how the film looks, or wants to reminisce about it, they can strike up conversation and I’ll put in a quick review, or scenes I like, blah blah blah etc. Because I like to talk about classic films that I really love, but I try to reserve most movie threads and reviews for first-time views. If I were to include every one of these it would just clog it up too much.

Makes me sad sometimes, because I’ll normally run across one that I really enjoy, but then principle dictates that I have to change it again next time I see another great film from the past. The Dirty Harry one I had is one of those, this Get Carter one might in fact be another one.

Also, if anyone is interested in fan-made posters for a film, I have a whole library of them and the artist’s websites at my disposal. There’s some great ones by a guy named Tyler Stout that I frequently use, most may recognise his art from the box cover of the game “Sleeping Dogs”.

Vlad Rodriguez also holds some of my newer favourites. His are more painted representations than the kind of cell-shaded art mentioned previously.

If anyone asks for a particular film I can try and search for some artists that have created a poster for it. But don’t be taking my gimmick from me now!
Wow; didn’t expect all that significance! You deep, bro!

Did I read that you review for a living? Or is this just a passion?

I have to confess that, unlike my good friend Cortes, I’m pretty simple-minded when it comes to movies. As much as I love them, my reviews usually sound like, “Damn, that was good!”
It’s kind of superficial really, I just like when people ask.

I occasionally contribute to film blogs and help out other writers on things like Rotten Tomatoes or Askmen, but I tend to stay anonymous or completely out of the limelight. I much prefer to be this kind of concealed, reclusive internet alias, more to keep the focus on my reviews themselves than me as a relatable human image. I know, sounds kind of hipster, but I’m not really the kind of person you’d expect this full-blown cinema demeanour from. I’m also rather young, so I would get a lot of ad hominems from that.

I make the occasional internet sum just kind of “ghost writing” for others, but it’s mostly just expressing my own opinions and unearthing other people’s film interests. I have always thought about using my time in the Royal Navy (Britain) to work up enough money to take myself to film school, and maybe make a couple of short films to see where that gets me, but for now I still consider myself firmly in the learning stage rather than the beginnings of a creative stage. I’d love to write a screenplay for a major film, and I’d be ecstatic if I could one day find myself in the director’s seat, maybe it’s a pipe dream but at the very least I’ll try.

Oh I’ve had some good conversations about them with Cortes in the past, strangely less than I would have expected looking back on it though. I’m sure soon enough we’ll get back into it, if something truly special shows up in the next month or two.

Ah don’t worry about it, I try to be eloquent myself but I still get my grammar and my semantics wrong way more frequently than I should. I’m glad I put up this posh, educated shroud enough for people to not really call me on it. But yeah, if you’re ever interested in talking about any of the films I put up in my avatar, or for recommendations of things coming in the next month or so, feel free to. I’m always happy to talk cinema. :]

Holy bovine dung!

You’re 19???

I’m impressed, but also a bit depressed: You could very easily be my youngest son.

BTW, despite my poor review skills, part of my job is writing, too. Just more academic & translation type stuff.
Haha, yes I’m only a year or so out of college, my decision to join the forces coincided with coming out of school, and that led to strength training around the same time. So I’m really not very good at that yet either.

Yes, people my age aren’t all that accustomed to good films, at least not out here in this no man’s land I live in. I’ve met a couple people that list their favourite films as both Michael Bay’s Transformers and/or Pearl Harbour. I even have a female friend that really likes Batman & Robin…or used to have a female friend that really liked Batman & Robin.

Most people I talk film with are either twice or almost three times my age, so it’s something I’ve grown accustomed to. Kind of disheartening because it takes up so much of my time, and I never spurned any kind of chemistry with most people my age because of it.

Ah fooey, have a bash sometime! As long as you’ve got enough under your belt for comparison and know where to look, it’s really rather straight-forward at a basic level. Hmm, English teacher for Japanese children? Isn’t Cortes also into much that sort of thing? There’s a YouTube personality I follow that used to teach South Korean children English, he has a lot of old videos of it, looks rather fun really.

I feel like I’ve rather unfairly hijacked this thread into becoming my life story, a bad habit I really need to work on. I apologise, gastronomes of T-Nation.

I bet you went to places supplied by 3663. The food they supply is shit and general crap mass produced and sold as “gourmet”. Most gastropubs claim this these days but they dont tell you the truth.

Real burgers here in England are few and far between but good places outside of towns and cities have them.

WHERE??? WHERE??? WHERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR???

Where can I find that Italiano’s stalls of guts and entrails appetizers?

I hear the “Ari Gold” burger from Patty & Bun on James Street is wonderful.

There’s also a place called Duke’s Brew And Que in Hackney that do magnificent beef ribs, however I believe I’ve heard people tell me they love the burger there too. (But seriously, if you need ribs…).

Also The Ship on Jews Row (Have your laugh you devils.) has some exquisite burgers, one of the only I’ve actually eaten for myself, but it is a marvel to behold.

This next site is of a mobile burger van run by a New Yorker who’s set up a business round London, you’ll have to check the site for his location. Seems like a rather good choice if you’re after the feel of an American-made burger.

I can’t comment on any of the steakhouses or restaurants up north, simply because I’ve never been in that area of England long enough to really get around to restaurant calls, but these are some very good London ones to check out. If I take a trip back to Oxford any time soon and this thread is still going on, I may head around some restaurants there and report back.

Have fun!

I now know why Americans have such a fantasy over what England is like.

You’ve never been outside of that shithole we call London. Come up north, we wont bite.

Bannock and pemmican.

But I’m pretty sure they don’t have any restaurants for it.

I’ve tried both…not something to base a franchise on for sure.
