Best Bulking Supp. & Cheap Protein?

Just wanted to know what legal supplement aside from creatine and protein you guys consider to be the best on the market currently. I took MAG-10 when it first came out in liqid form and gained almost 15 lbs of muscle. It was when I was in highschool and around the time I started taking getting BIGGER seriously. This was the last time I took or even looked into supps. besides creatine or protien…

Also, just wondered what food you guys consider has the best bang for the buck protien wise at the supermarket. Right now I can get cans of tuna for 58 cents a piece. They have about 28g of protien a piece. Eggs are pretty cheap too. Anything else?

Appriciate the help.

For you other question, I’d say lean ground beef. I know it looks expensive compared to the less lean beef, but just think of how much of that cheaper (fattier) beef gets cooked down and left in the pan or grill.

I know you already mentioned eggs, but I would highly recommend eating a lot of eggs daily. I eat about 20 a day (only have about 1/3-1/2 of the yolks) and its some of the best protein around. Plus, gram for gram, its almost as cheap as some very cheap whey protein.

BTW, the only reason I eat a lot of the yolks is because I’m on the Anabolic Diet. Not sure this would go well while on a high carb diet.

Real food can’t be beat.

First of all, if you want cheap protein, use Biotest’s new Whey. It has 55g of protein FOR ONE DOLLAR! That’s cheaper than food.

Atlas - you really think eggs are cheap? Especially if you only eat the whites, if you’re lucky the white has 4g of protein - again if you are lucky. That means a dozen whites have 48g of protein and a dozen jumbo eggs cost almost $2 (has to be jumbo or the whites don’t have 4g). That’s maybe $24-28g protein per buck. Not cheap unless you double the protein with the yolks. Besides, the BV of egg whites isn’t very good.

First off, nothing compares to real food. I used to live off of whey protein and didn’t gain jack! I used to try proteins with casein, milk isolate, bla bla bla. Didn’t gain much at all.

Once I switched over to real food, I got my gains. Plain and simple. People will vouch for this saying that real food is better than a supplement.

If supplementing with protein is so much better than real food, why even eat meat ?

Also, I get 18 eggs for $1.18. Maybe its more expensive where you live, but not here. I am on the Anabolic Diet, so I can eat 1/2 of the yolks and I’m fine.

So, I get 76g of some of the best protein around for $1.

Lastly, here is a post by “Big Cat” (on a different forum that has a great reputation):

Biological Value

Proteins are ranked according to Biological Values (BV), arbitrary numbers given to protein to show comparisons in their availability within the body. At the time the system was introduced eggs were given the highest BV of 100 because they are the most bio-available natural protein. Afterwards whey was isolated from milk and shown to have a higher BV, and depending on the process used can yield percentage from 104 to 154 on the scale.

BV scales are a useful tool in putting together a complete protein, but it pisses me off that it’s being used as a sales-pitch by companies promoting their whey products. Obviously a high BV brings with it certain downsides. The easier it absorbs the faster it absorbs. The faster it absorbs the faster it’s rendered useless within the body, which makes taking it in large amounts at once impossible. Some would have you take 50 grams of whey in one sitting, and I guarantee you 25 to 50 percent of that is being wasted. At the price of a decent whey protein Isolate that is plain insanity.

exactly what I was going to say about real food and BV.
