Great Article. Thank you!

Sierra Nevad’s IPA might be the best IPA regularly available.

That is a bold statement.

After every beer posted in here you statement is that ALL beer made in America is watery, flavourless nonsense.

You personally have tasted every beer that has been posted in this thread?

I will give you the Buds, Coors, Miller’s of the world are what you stated, no argument there.
He didn’t say ALL beer made in America. He said American lager. American lager does suck.
True
ya, that’s what I was getting at. The only American stuff we get here in Scotland tends to be lagers and they’re not so good. Having said that, Scottish lager is crap too.

One American import we do get here that I really like though is Brooklyn Brewery. Don’t see it all that often though.

Yes. Delish.

Pere Jacques

I think these last three were all from Goose Island. Good stuff.

This makes me want to go drink lots of beer:

Holy fuck I ain’t touching no beers that stick to the wall Sen Say…that’s just too strong for me.

I am drunk as fuck right now off of beer and only eating 1,200 calories a day.

Unfortunately discontinued. Was a great beer.

Slavutych Classic, from Ukraine.

For awhile there, I was really into dark lagers.

Dark Horse Lager from Elevator Brewery (Columbus, OH) is a good one. I’ve never seen it outside Columbus though.

For awhile there, Gordon Biersch has (had?) their Schwarzbier. They may still carry it, but I don’t see it on their website.

There’s also Einbecker Schwarzbier.

I’ve found that taking a sip of rye right before a swallow of amber beer really, really makes that beer taste good. It definitely changes things a bit.

Anyone else chase whiskey with beer strictly for the taste effect?
A mentor in my earlier sales career learned me “shot of Jack (Daniels) with a Bud(weiser) back”

(edited)

Yeah if im gonna drink, im gonna drink something that has some burn to it, definitely not beer.

Tried these the other night. Its an Alberta Micro brewery. Big Rock has some damn good beers. I’m venturing into some more of the micro breweries.

Espresso Stout
Autumn Wheat Lager
Winter Spice Ale

For sure. I also like to add a shot of good whiskey to a good amber or dark beer.

Brought me back the following from the States the other day - all purchased from a fucking TOPS Grocery Store!! (you Americans have the right idea, screw this “Beer Store” and “Liquor Store” BS we have up in Ontario)

1.) DOGFISH HEAD 90-MIN IPA: Awesome

2.) DOGFISH HEAD INDIAN BROWN ALE: Exceptional - one of the best beers I’ve tried in months

3.) DOGFISH HEAD PUNKIN ALE: My new favourite Pumpkin Ale, with a close second being MacAuslan from Quebec.

4.) WEYERBACHER HOP INFUSION: Meh. Not offensive but have had much better IPAs

5.) GREAT LAKES EDMUND FITZGERALD PORTER: My God, if you like porters you owe it to yourself to try this

So overall a pretty great haul.

All of the beers in this thread are/look very tasty. I’ve enjoyed quite a few one or two at a time with dinner myself.

I think it is irresponsible to recommend getting sloshed on 12+ porters though. That is a toilet trip and massive hang over just waiting to happen. He might as well spike molasses with everclear and chug it.

For getting sloshed at Halloween parties, the OP should stick to light beers imo. Some craft brews make pilsners, IPA wouldn’t be terrible but he’s not going to a beer tasting contest.

Miller Lite, Bud Light, Coors et cetera for the situation at hand.

You guys get skunk drunk on your recommendations and see if you still feel the same way about them at a party.
