I don’t know about you but it I find it difficult to find truly great action movies, most of them just aren’t brutal or violent enough for me, I guess this is because Hollywood pushes for a 15 rating so they can get a wider audience or pehaps we’ve just all gotten used to the same old formulaic, 3 action scenes, some jokes / male bonding.
Well, fuck all that. The Raid takes a big, sharp knife and slices the fuck out of your expectations of what an action movie should be like
But I’m tired of films with unrealistic cartoon-like “airborn” fighting scenes and bullshit slow-mo CGI.
Also, is this film taking the side of the druglord scum, or the police?[/quote]
Then my friend this movie is the antidote you are looking for, for one this is not a CGI fest, there are a few signs where CGI was used by mostly this is down to a bunch amazing young atheletes who going all out for your viewing pleasure, there are no gimmics, this is just all out assault on your senses- the most used weapons are knives, knees, elbows & fists
Oh, and the hero is a young police officer, who has a pregnant wife at home, the drug dealer is definitely the bad guy, you get that from the first scene in the movie

This Movie is Damn Near Perfect for what it is. An explosion of Action followed by the deep search for kicking a guys ass who just tried to kill you and all your co-workers.
I would say more but I’m checking the times to see if I can check this out again. In NY this sunday.
