Benchmarks to Hit Before Going to the Darkside

Hey guys, I just wanted to get some opinions on this subject. I realize age and years training plays a huge factor in this so for ease of discussion, lets use a 25 year old natural really training for 2-3 years. What are some lifting benchmarks you feel you need to hit before switching to the darkside. This may be a dumb question because everyone has different genetic potential, but I would still like you guys that are more expeirenced take on it.

I think the whole waiting until you’ve maxed out your genetic potential is the biggest pile of shite ever. NO ONE ever does it. Naturaly bodybulders are still making gains in their forties. Does that mean you shouldn’t consider a cycle until you’re 50?

Only you can know whether or not you’re ready. Can you eat and train properly? Then use steroids if you like.

  1. You know how to eat for your goals. If you wanna be a comp body builder then you need to know how and have been eating to do so. If you wanna be a leanish 12-15% BF then be eating for it. If you wanna move the most amount of weight possible weight be damned then so be it but be eating for it and know.

  2. Your educated on the drugs. What they do, how they do it, and how to fix this and that they may do. I’d rather see a 160lbs 18 year old who is ridiculously well educated on the drugs get on a cycle than some half wit who just happens to train hard and eat alot

  3. At fucking least be able to Bench you Body Weight for 10, Squat 1.5 your body weight for 10, and Deadlift 2x your body weight for 10. Unless your just a really big guy already bit say your 180lbs.

Bench 180 for 10
Squat 270 for 10
Deadlift 360 for 10

^^^^^^^ Minimums

  1. Atleast a year in the gym of hard consistent work. If you can’t hit ^^^^ those numbers in a year then your programing and diet is probably lacking a bit and need keep going.

I think it all depends on your goals like Reed said. I’d say to put it simply, that you should have all of your shit 100% together so that a cycle isn’t the bandaid to something that is being neglected. Eat right, train smart, and do your research. When you feel like everything is clicking, take the plunge.

when is ok to put turbo on your civic to make it beat evo’s, sti’s and vet’s?
