Bench Press Technique

I just watched the video on the T-Nation youtube channel of Thibaudeau teaching the raw bench press and he advocates shrugging the traps in the setup and maintaining the shrug though out the movement. My question is what’s the difference between this and what Joe DeFranco advocates for the raw bench which is to maintain a retracted scapula through out the movement?

Where is that video? If I try to shrug my traps, I feel it will pull my arms up and away from my chest primary line of pull.

Here’s the video:

After watching the video, it still seems nearly opposite of what I do, or what most top lifters do. But what do I know?

I think I read that CT clarified by saying to squeeze everything together in a packed way, not really to “shrug” up.
