I’m working on talking myself into it, I think once I get there I will be completely fine, after reading a bunch it seems way better than I initially anticipated.
Negatives:
Housing there sucks for what we need and we’ll be living off of 67% we did last year. I’ll also be contributing ~70-75% of the income over the next 4 years instead of the ~45-50% I have been the last few. So pretty much just money that is currently stressing me but we’ve both lived off of wayyy less than even the reduced income we’ll be making. Long snowy season. Isolated from pretty much everyone I know. Costco is 1+ hour away. College town.
Positives:
Beautiful. Cheaper. Tons of outdoor activities. Wine. Beer. Music. Opportunity to explore places I’ve never been and things I’ve never done. Smaller town atmosphere that I’ve never truly experienced. I enjoy being around smart people.
Also, worked out a bit today, did mostly back and arms. Was a big hungover but got down and got a bit of a sweat going, better than nothing. Unfortunately, I made lasagna Wednesday and haven’t stopped eating it since, Hawaii bod really coming into form lol
There seems to be more stuff coming available, i want to buy something but it’s going to take a lot of time, effort, and work that we may not be able to commit at this point.
Ideally 2/3 bedrooms and a garage. There are a few solid places in the low 200 range but we’ve never bought before and don’t have a lot of time to go scout places out, get approved for a loan and close. Reached out to a few rentals today, might try and get a short term one and look at houses once we’re out there.
Got fatter in Hawaii but had a good time despite some wild weather.
Upper
Bench: 3x10 205
Row: 3x10 135 (focusing on brace/mmc here)
Straight arm pulldown: 50 3x10
Tricep pulldown: same
Rope curls: same
Weird rope row: same
Band work for shoulders and triceps
Bench felt decent everything else was meh, looking forward to getting back into the swing of things
I’m just looking at rentals online though, feel more comfortable committing to a year than 30 that way. We might be getting an extra bedroom for my squat rack lol
What’s going on with your lifting, you hanging in there?
Dude inside gyms are so nice! I have tons of windows, 2 ceiling fans, and so close to the kitchen!
I’m still lifting. Just in a super weird funk right now where it’s taking every ounce of will power in my body and then some to make it happen. I’d rather just climb into bed and stay there for ever
I get into those funks too, went through one earlier this year, it wasn’t the worst one but fuck they suck. I hop on meds pretty much every other year when I get into a spell. Just keep swimming.
Drank about 1293 drinks on St. Patricks day, consequences were too high to be worth it.
Shoulder/single leg session today, I did about 15-20 min in the morning, took a 3.5 mile walk/hike then did about 40 more this afternoon.
Morning:
Shoulder warmup, 55 jumping jacks
Axle Press: Bar 1x10, 80 2x10, 120 2x10
Hang clean: bar 2x10, 95 2x10
Lateral/Front delt band raises: 4x10
7500 step walk around Discovery park, a beautiful area of Seattle.
Afternoon:
Shoulder warmup
Hang clean: barx10, 95 3x10 These are just to grease the groove, i’m not good at cleans by any means but this is more cardio and technique than it is strength.
Seated BB press: 95 2x10
BSS: 3x10
SL RDL: 3x10
Band pullthroughs: 3x10
Pullups: 5x5 (3 green, 2 fuscia)
Pretty solid day in terms of activity, going to go get dinner for my gf’s birthday at a Vietnamese fusion place that’s delicious. Am going to volunteer to DD so I can avoid drinking more than one or two.
Ended up having 4, not as little as I wanted but good for me.
Did a bench/light back session, most things were mixed together including supersetting tri and straight pulldowns.
Shoulder warmup, wrist stretching
Bench: 3x10 225
Tri/straight pulldown: 35x10, 45 3x10
Low band row: 3x10
SA overhead tricep: 3x10
Pound stone curls w axle, 100
Bench felt good, I did the pound stone curls between my second and third set of bench. Never put the bar down but I think I went something like 22,18,10,10,10,15,5,10 the pump was the best I’ve had from a single set of anything unsurprisingly
Nothing much here decent deadlifts, cleans are hard/weird with the axle but an enjoyable challenge. Probably do a bench session tomorrow or Sunday, need to get a squat session in too
It was definitely pushing it, I should’ve grabbed some chalk. The one set of press was actually going to be cleans but after my first clean I bailed and just pressed instead because it was easier lol
Partook in some of the devil’s lettuce, relaxed for a few hours then took a walk and did some glamour lifting.
Black Band hammer curls: 3x10
Straight arm pulldown: 50 3x10 (great mmc)
Rope curls: 50 3x8
Crouched cable row: 50 3x10 (good for stabilization?)
Got a solid pump, my ability to get a good mmc when just a bit high is fantastic, straight arm pulldowns hit my lats so much more obviously than any other lift.
Walked about 1.5 miles before eating today, think that helped my stomach. Am going to try and wait a few hours before eating breakfast this week to see if that helps with digestion. Mid and upper back is toast from yesterday.
Legs:
BSS: 2x10
Band pull throughs: 3x10
Axle rdl: 120 3x10
Calves: some during rdl
BS: 185 5x10
Decided that I’m going to get back to squatting and that I am going to do it while building my work capacity. The motivation, lingering in the back of my head, is being able to do DeepWater in a month or so. Those sets of 10 sucked, at a very light weight, so I’ve got some work to do. I’m not dead set on doing DW but I want to be able to put in more work, in any case.
It’s a nice day in Seattle so I’m going to go toss a disc around.
