While this is good progress, I’d still like to see an older, fatter picture to rate you appropriately.

Also can you post legs and back (of the most recent you)?

I will agree with that

As an FYI, usually you try and post (on RMP) either a most recent picture of yourself (to get a higher and more accurate rating) and/or a before-and-after combo. The way you did it was neither a recent nor a finished product, but it wasn’t far enough ago that shows how much weight you really lost.

But for the sake of Internet, I will take your word for it and give you the benefit of the doubt. I’m just trying to help you with standard RMP protocol.

Other than these technical critiques, your progress is excellent.

I appreciate your comments, but I dont think that 180 k dead lifts, 140 k bench presses are Mr average do you ?
While they may not be “average” in the sense of your average gym goer, they’re nothing to write home about really.

All in all though, good work and way to stay with it for the long haul.

Comments taken on board

If I had known I was going to post on a forum prior to losing weight I would have kept the images I had of me fat. However they are long gone as well as the belly.

Being a newbie I wasnt aware of protocols of posting so I apologise.

However in 12 months I have managed to increase my free bench press from 20 K to 140 k. Im impressed with that considering I didnt start weight lifting untill I was 40

You see that’s the problem.

Here on RMP, we have TONS of trolls every week that come on here as newbies and IMMEDIATELY post pics of themselves…even though they are quite disgusting. Now, while I have more respect for you than for most of them, one really should get acquainted with the forum before exposing themselves to ridicule.

Unfortunately I have to agree. While an “A for Effort” is definitely in order, the final product is still a long, long way away. I dont intend on posting in the section for YEARS. A high 7 or 8 on T-Nation is the goal for me right now.
Ive actually been a member for over a year now so hardly a troll. I have posted my pictures to show the improvement though slight compared to others.

I alsonote you are more than a newbie than me, so a little respect for each other would go a long way

Well now that it’s personal…LOL

I never said I wasn’t a newbie, but obviously I knew more about RMP in my few weeks of T-Nation membership than you did in your entire year. You really should have more to show for yourself for having been a member that long, especially for making excuses of not being aware of RMP protocol…

I did my required reading and learned that only a polished product should post pics on RMP.

T-Nation: “World’s largest Bodybuilding and Weight Loss Underground Nation!”

I think he deserves a 5, IMO it is a lot harder to lose weight than it is to pack on muscle mass.

I suppose unlike others I dont ever consider body building can become a finished product as it is an ongoing process. I reiterate my statement that this is a progress and not a finished product, If people choose to ridicule that shows immaturity, I prefer to show an on going improvement as perfection is never achieved by anyone, everyone wants to be better, bigger and stronger.

What part of…“this isn’t the rate my progress section” do you not understand?

gave you a ten…

cause i dont play by no rules, bitch! ha!

for gods sake I only posted an updated picture and informed of the strength gains I have achieved. Sod protocol, rate whatever you want.

Nice one ironman, guys like you make these forums a better place.

not a problem fella.
To be fair- i understand what everybody is saying, that this picture doesnt belong in this forum
BUT…big deal, it got posted here he only needs to be given a polite suggestion that it would be better off place in a different thread. end of.

Also…Seeing as you guys are giving him so much grief, this must mean you have made some pretty impressive gains yourself…if not then you need to take a better look at yourself and ask why am i hating on someone whos achieveing???

I believe Chris Shugart has written about the negative people around you that will try to halt your progress, i am afraid i cant remember the name of the article, but definitely worth a ready by everyone here.

You’ve got a good point.

Bigboyblew…I’m sorry for dragging it out so much. Your progress is great. I don’t want to discourage you.

… and we all lived happily ever after.

Thanks guys. I will research which post goes where in future. Appreciate the comments

I have to disagree with that statement. Losing weight is an impressive feat yes but I think to put on lean muscle mass is a tougher one to do. When you are over weight, you have calories to burn and energy to help build muscle. As you are putting on muscle, you are already beginning to lose fat (provided you eat right). On the other hand, when you bulk up you have to start from scratch. You have to build yourself up a base to start with. You have to put on muscle and fat at the same time and then slowly trim the fat off to reveal the lean muscle you earned.

In that process, you’ll lose some muscle as well. I may be writing this from my perspective (I find it easier to lose weight no problem, simply with some diet changes and some cardio) and I’m sure alot will disagree.

Very nice transformation, I can’t wait to see some more updated pictures of your progress.
