Beer, Bitching, and Lifting

Ah jesus… what day is it?

6/14/2012 - Back/Hammies
V-grip pulldowns - 160 x 6, 5, 4
V-grip cable rows - 160 x 8, 150x12, 150x8

RDL’s - 40x15, 130x10, 220x12, 220x10, 130x15 ← Didn’t really feel these in my hammies this session so I dropped the weight to try and identify what was going wrong. My only conclusion? Maybe my new shoes.

Rear-delt flyes - 25x12,10,8

Leg curls - whatevs x whatevs

Hyperextensions
Some pullups too

If anything so far, keeping this log has really made me realize how inconsistent I am on when I train. I’m so busy lately I end up skipping more days than I would like to. I am considering switching to something like 5/3/1 for a few months until everything settles out. I’m constantly fighting muscular involution (as described by CT) and so I am not making progress how I could.

6/15/2012 - Chest/Biceps
Incline bp - 40x30, 90x10, 130x3, 165x(7, 5), 200x miss (wtf… aadlksjld)
Incline DB flyes - 20x20, 55x(8,6)
Pinwheel curlz - 55x(5,5)
Pin press - 185(3,2)
Incline DB curlz - 40x(8,7)

Not a bad session. Slowly improving on incline bp… not where I want to be though.

Body weight is hovering around ~136lbs @ 5’2"-5’3"ish. I was around 140 (first time considered overweight BMI - woo!) in march but the warmer weather has me sweating all the time. I’d like to get up to a solid 170 one day - that should be pretty fawking yoked for my height.

I don’t know what happened but I just typed up a pretty good sized update and it never showed up. I guess I’ll try again later.

there is a short dude at my gym, possibly Pakistani or from Anotherstan, that is roughly your height and I would put him at a pretty lean 150, tops. he isn’t huge yet but the guy is pretty ripped and he’s one midge I wouldn’t mess with. 170 at your height at 15ish % bf or so would probably look pretty big, but what do I know.

Yeah , I think so too. The cool thing about being mini is that you don’t end up having to weigh near as much as a taller dude. I honestly struggle to put on 1lb of lean mass though… I get fat fucking quick if I don’t watch it. 1lb of fat gain is a hella noticeable on me too… lulz

Here’s a pic I took sometime last week … it’s not the best lighting but eh, it’s not a bad pic. It gives a good idea of where I am right now.

p.s. you inspired me to play around with all kinds of cable curls a couple days ago, haha. I decided I still don’t like them… my cable pulley system sucks.

A little rant today…

If you don’t know, I am a pasty white boy who ‘converted’ to Islam in order to marry my Egyptian wife. I’ve never been completely behind the religion but I’ve done a good job at faking it. I did what needed to be done to get what I wanted… my wife.

I hate ignorance and I hate it when people throw around ‘jihad’ so readily when referring to Islam and its followers. I hate most of the shit spread around on the internet (and on these very forums) in regards to Islam.

But you know what the truth is? I just don’t understand how anybody can follow this religion and feel like it is ‘ok’. You know those kids who thought their strict Catholic parents were bad? Holy god they have no idea. Islam feels like you are a prisoner in isolation. Read a book on ‘Tawheed’ and your mind will be blown. Add in countless ‘Hadith’ after that and you will be left wondering what is left to enjoy in life.

I just struggle to defend Islam against even the most ridiculous statements. Egypt is crumbling and may soon fall to the Muslim Brotherhood. It takes half a brain to know what that means.

I’m never going back to Egypt. My children will never step foot in Egypt and I will keep my wife from going back as well. I immigrated her here by myself at 19/20 years old and I feel like it may have been my destiny to get her away from that place. I’m not going to risk losing her to political Islam.

Now watch me slowly drift into insanity!

Wow. Quite a story, bro. Where did you immigrate from?

Dude i still live here and it really isn’t that bad.

I really hope it stays that way. I simply fear the Muslim Brotherhood and all they will do. I know Morsi is rumored to be winning the election… if not won already. My in-laws aren’t clear about it. If they take over the country I will definitely boycott going back.

I was born and raised in the USA.

I brought my wife here from Egypt. I guess I said that in a confusing way, lol

yeah its a bit weird in that regard at the moment. The army will make sure the muslim brotherhood do not win, its shariq winning thats the problem. Another revolution will be on the cards.

Lets just play it out!

you’re not a small-looking little dude, I’ll give you that. most little dudes look like children.

I’m picky with cable stations man. the tension and counterweights are different from station to station. I think cable exercises are the absolute best when you want constant tension throughout a ROM and if you want max TUT… but you don’t always get a good cable station.

6/17/2012
Just screwed around with cable curl variations for about a half hour and super setted with gastroc raises. I didn’t feel up to quads/calves so it was a nice change. A bit refreshing.

6/18/2012 - Quads/Calves:
Leg extensions - nothing too heavy. I’m giving my knees time to adjust and I’ll do my best to be patient. Did three sets with my ‘top’ weight.

Bottom-up Zercher Squats - I start quite a bit lower on these than bottom up squats and I actually turn out to be stronger. I think it’s because I am able to cue in my hips better for some reason. I love this movement and I’m gonna stick with it for a while.

Walking DB lunges - 55x8,8

Gastroc raises - 220 x 10, 9, 8, 7

After that I did some cardio by hitting my punching bag for about 45 minutes. I threw a lot of high kicks and man was I wiped out after that. I definitely felt it this morning.

Also, yes, I know I change my routine a lot. I’m trying to find my ideal workouts - I’m gonna stick with this quads/calves one for a while.

6/19/2012 - Shoulders, traps, and triceps
High incline press - 160 x 3, 2, 2 - I lowered the pins down to bottom of my chin level. I was pleased that I could still get 160 up for a few.

Lean-away DB laterals - 45x8,6

Cross-body DB front raises - 45x8, 7

BB shrugs - 300x10 (6 + rest paused 4)

Overhead Ez-extensions - 90x 9,6

Tricep rope pushdowns - lolness x lololol

edit: Also did some ‘cardio’ today as well. I went at my heavy bag for approx 30 minutes. My wrists need to readjust to the heavy bag though… it has been quite some time since I hit it frequently.

Hah, got to love the Egyptian Army. And hey - if anything major happens let me know. I get the translated version of everything my in-laws say and what I find on CNN/MSNBC. Hope you stay safe, man!

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I look a lot younger if I shave though! Still got a long way to go. I can’t even imagine myself at 170!

And yeah, I’ve only had experience with a couple cable stations besides the one I own. I’m not gonna invest in another so I’ll probably just not do cable curls/laterals/etc… heh.

6/20/12

Didn’t really train. Just toyed around with my new 140lb CoC gripper. I can close it a couple times already which is great because I was dreading it. When I first bought my 100lb one I couldn’t even close it - I partially closed it over and over and over for 6 weeks until I closed it once.

‘Wrestled’ a ‘friend’ for like a half hour - it was really nice because he is constantly challenging me and I was able to completely dominate him. I caught him in a guillotine choke right off his first double-leg attempt… fucking pushed my heels down and lifted him off the ground. He’s lucky I’m nice because I could have choked him out easy - I didn’t even squeeze. After that he decided he didn’t want to play anymore though and I just taught him a few things. Why do I gots to be nice? :frowning:

Later on I drank 3 Yuengling Porters - I love dark roasty beers and their porter is a good representation. Only beef I have with it is I’d like a bit more bitterness on the front of the pallet (I’m splitting hairs here, though). Good ol’ Yuengling - America’s oldest brewery still doing beer up awesome.

6/21/2012 - Quads/Calves

What? 3 days apart? Hellz yeah. I don’t know why but I just felt like quads today. They could really use the extra attention anyway… most of my leg mass is hammies/inner thighs. And no, no pics until leaner and bigger legs are acquired.

Leg extensions - more of the same but made a good jump up in weight. Knees still felt fine and my quads seem to be waking back up. Doing 15-20 reps per top set for 3 top sets.

Zercher Squats - more of the same. I’m trying to do multiple sets of 3 reps because high rep sets hurt on these ones… lol. I was able to do 250x1 though and it felt easy enough where I know I could move up. This is from the 2nd lowest hole on my power rack. I want 315 or higher by fall and I’mma do it, holmies.

DB Walking lunges - 60x5,5,5

Gastroc raises - 50 x me, 50 x me, 220x12, 220x10, 220x10

Roman chair sit ups - 20, 20, 20, 20, 20 , barf

edit: After reading how fr0IVIan doesn’t think I look like most other little dudes… it made me think. I remember watching a video with CT in it talking about one of the Indigo guys and how he looks like a regular person but taller. As in - he doesn’t look tall but looks proportioned like a regular person. He said that kind of guy are usually superior athletes.

Am I just the opposite? Regularly proportioned mini person? Primordial dwarf? Lulzzzz

I found this weird hot/painful lump in my left under arm today… gave it a squeeze and nothing happened except intense pain. Possibly a scary boil or ingrown hair (I shave dem dere under arms, lulz).

Yesterday was Back/Hammies and I’ll update this post in a few hours when I have the chance.

I find myself feeling all giddy when somebody posts here - so please, post away! Even if you want to make fun of my small stature and pasty white skin - post, post , post!

Been pretty busy that last few days but yesterday I did Chest/Biceps. Highlights included finally getting 200x1 on Incline bench press. Been chasing that one for about a month… it was nice to get it up - it was not ‘pretty’ though. Once I got it about half way up it was a grinder.

Also decided I prefer hammer curls over pinwheel curls. It’s a lot easier to be stricter on form with them.

I’m off to the grocery store now because there is nothing to eat in my damn house. I’ve been spending too much time driving here and there that when I get home the grocery stores are closed.

Yo

Do this

Smash up the potatoes and mix in raw honey walnuts and raisins

Mmmmmm mmmm

Sometimes I treat myself to a can of the sweet potatoes in the heavy candy glaze syrup for PWO

Hah, that does sound awesome man - I’ll have to try it sometime. I’ve definitely been liking them with just a lil butter and 400ish calories per can is nice.
