Becoming a T-Man!

Hey again T-Nation!

I’ve decided to turn this thread into my personal training log, so leave a comment or a piece of advice if you want. If not, I’m just going to be using this to record my gains so it’s all good.

I’m studying for my last final today (Upper level math) so I’m just going to hit the gym briefly today. Here is my work out plan.

FDH 3x5 (omitting military press today because this limits the amount of weight I can use to the weight I can military press… 135.)

Bench Press 5x1 90%RepMax (after warm up sets of course)

Dumbbell Rows 3x7 (almost up to the 100 pound DBs! Going to start using them when I can do 95 8 times)

Back Squat 2x8 (Parallel)

Weighted Squat Jump 2x5

2x10 DB Flies

Anyways. Cheers!

Just finished my workout… unfortunately I failed on my last set of 90% RM bench and was trapped under the bar… and there was nobody in the gym except “The Elipical Bitch” and some fat lady curling the pink dumbbells.

Seriously, it was a friggen nightmare. I was struggling under the bar, trying to wriggle out from under it, the eliptical bitch looks over and continues running and the pink dumbbell lady starts screaming “OH MY GOD!” and then she dropped the pink dumbbell on her foot, and then instantly forgets about the strapping young lad teetering on the brink of death.

Needless to say I escaped with only severe bruising on the skin on my ribs, the ribs feel fine so I think I’m okay.

Anyways, I’ll quit ranting because I was going to ask about a product.

I’m down to about 5 scoops of whey left from my 10 pound bag so I need some more, I live in a small town and there are no supplement shops except a small one at my gym, here are the whey proteins they have:

EAS 100% Whey - I bought a tub when I first started working out. I’ll never drink this vile tasting stuff again. 23g protein per scoop.

EAS Mytoplex Protein - Whey/Casein blend, comes in packets which are $2.50 each, a little pricey but money isn’t really an object. I’ve got a job and I’m not the typical teenager blowing ridiculous ammounts of money on name brand shit, so I’ve got a pretty lofty bank account for someone my age. 47g protein per packet (I would probably use half the packet at a time)

ISO-Juice - I’ve never heard of this stuff, it is a tub full of packets which average about $1 per serving. (25g protein per packet)

Cytosport Muscle Milk - I’ve heard some good things about this whey/casein blend… mainly its good taste, the calories are pretty high but I’m not too concerned about that because I’m trying to gain weight.

Allmax IsoCool - A box full of packets of whey, I forget the exact protein content, its in the high 20’s though… and the packets average about $1 if you buy a whole box.

Anyways… I’m pretty sure I’m going to go with the muscle milk, has anyone tried it? Would you recommend this? I’ve heard it is a better pre-bed time shake than post workout.

Anyways, I’m just wondering because they have no ON Whey which is my favorite… and I’m not going out of town for a while so there will be no chances to visit GNC. Oh yeah, and I can’t order stuff online because I don’t have a credit card.

What are your back squat and bench press weights used here?

90% of 205 = 185 Bench for that workout

And I was just using 255 for the squats.

Oi guys.

Just got home from the gym, haha, I arrived there only to realize I was still sore pretty much everywhere so I decided to do some direct arm training, I don’t do it often at all so it was alright… and I also did some abs.

2x10 Hammer Curls
2x10 Weighted Dips
3x10 Wrist Curls
2x 60 second Planks
2x8 Cable Pressdowns
2x8 EZ Bar Curls
2x20 Hanging Leg Raises
2x8 Cable Curls
2x8 Skull crushers
2x20 Crunches

Oh, btw… I bought the muscle milk after all and it tastes pretty damn good. It mixes well in a shaker bottle and… well, the consistency leaves some to be desired but whatever.

Anyways, exams are finally over so its nothing but working, eating and training for the next two months.

Fat chicks need lov’n too

Did you say Muscle Milk? Check out this article on T-Nation: www.T-Nation.com/readTopic.do?id=1231523

It’s the only report out there I found about Muscle Milk, but I still wouldn’t drink it after reading that. When you have questions about what to buy, do a quick search and see if anyone already posted an article about their experience with it, or maybe you could even buy it through T-Nation.

It’s terrible because my entire high school football team is taking it…

I actually read about the harmful ingredients in muscle milk some time ago, I’d also read that that the glycocyamine had been removed from the formula and they changed the look of the packaging.

I’m sure after they found out that the product could be harmful they quickly resolved the problem. It does worry me a little, I’ve only got a 2.5 pound tub so I’m going to finish it and go back to my ON Whey.

Anyways, thanks for the info. I didn’t actually know that the baby-growth hormones weren’t helpful.

Oh, btw T-Nation…

I’ve taken two days off from my training (Tuesday, Wednesday) because its been crazy at work (I worked 24 hours in two days!) But I should be off at around 8:30 tonight so I’ll go home, eat and hit the gym. I’m going to do a fullbody today.

Hey T-Nation! I started this thread in June and since the school year is back on I’ve decided to pick it up again.

I ended up not training as much as I wanted over the summer (2-3 days per week) but I was doing all kinds of other things like Kayaking and swimming and such.

I’ve started the Anti-Establishment Hypertrophy Program by: Chad Waterbury.

An update on my gains:

I’m between 155 and 160, so I’m only slightly heavier than I was, my body fat % is actually slightly lower though so I probably gained 6-8 pounds of muscle over the summer.

I now Squat 315 (10 pounds heavier than in June)
I Deadlift 335 (20 pounds heavier than June)
I Bench Press 210 (5 pounds heavier than in June)

So I’m feeling pretty good for this year, my diet is in order, Its basically my diet from before but I don’t drink ANY milk and I eat more meat and eggs.

I cut milk out because of my lactose intolerance and the hormones in milk were giving me acne (when I stopped drinking milk it cleared up).

Anyways, I’m about to go do Day 3 of the program (legs and abs) so cheers! I’ll be writing on this thread from time to time to track my progress.

hey man you and me are a lot alike
i’m 160, JUST stopped drinking milk and eating cheese, same reasons
your deadlift and squat are better than mine because i never trained with them until recently
I have around 225 on bench though.

but my suggestion is to throw in a lift 90% of your max every once in a while. i don’t know the program you’re on, but good luck!

One of them threw down his hat and started walking towards me. I got into a defensive stance (I did Judo for 5 years, so I wasn’t scared… and he probably weighed 130 at 6 foot), he starts yelling about me being racist, which I thought was bizarre since I just yelled back what they said to me.

After the guy threatened to “beat my ass” (haha, try it) the next time he saw me he walked off and I went back home.

Lol. In a few months they won’t even think of touching you, or even looking at you for that matter.

Humm, I didn’t notic how long this thread had been going on. My post is a few months too late, lol. Its good to hear of another person starting young, and also reading up, and not being a dummie in the gym. You will be huge!

Yeah, I started the thread in June… I just resurrected it. I thought it might be good to keep some track of my training even if I don’t post every day.

I’ve got a spare in 5th period so I’ll be going home at 2:00, eating and hitting the gym, its a high rep day on the Anti-Establishment Hypertrophy Program for the upper body. Weighted dips and pullups FTW!

The third workout of Anti-Bodybuilding Hypertrophy was good! 5 sets of 10 weighted pullups and 5 sets of 10 weighted dips… I usually have fairly low reps so having a pump was nice.

I’ve got very good body-mind communication and at the end of the workout I knew I needed something with more calories than my normal post workout shake. Here is what I concocted.

1 scoop ON Whey (Chocolate Mint Flavor)
1 scoop Muscle Milk (Chocolate Milk Flavor)
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 cup chocolate ice cream
500ml water

It was delicious… like a Reese’s peanut butter cup, I’m going to use this again next time my calories are on the low side by post-workout time.

Workout #4 of ABHP was good! I was doing my deadlifts with 305 for reps so it was pretty awesome.

Anyways… not much to report other than that.
