i love when i grow out my beard. BYU has a rule though that you must be clean shaven. So until I graduate- it’s no beard time.
It makes me mad that they say that and yet there’s an allowance for mustaches. It’s like saying “We don’t like manly men, but we like pedophiles, porn stars and evil dictators”
That pic caught me by surprise. I laughed. Hard. Harder when Lew commented, as that is why I was laughing! But, I can say that it’s taken me a few years to finally get my grown man on. I,too, was a victim of “spots” during my high school years. But I did have chest hair by 15. Just as recently as last November, I had a full head of hair, beard, and mustache. I miss it all. I think I’ll grow it all back upon leaving Afghanistan. That’ll give me enough time to head back stateside this summer with my hair and beard flowing…
I tried the bald head, full beard on a white guy look over 2 years ago when I was single. The bald look has worked for me since I was 18 but the beard just made me look like a psycho. It’d probably work for me at heavy metal concerts or dive bars, but overall there was a negative reaction. I routinely had to visit females in their dorm rooms to fix their internet and they were a lot less friendly to the beard.

It took me 3 hours to figure out how to not frown. I know it goes against the codes of B.I.G.D.I.C.K. but I was trying not to scare the white folks.

It’s so funny what people associate with certain looks.
I’ve been told that a slight beard/goatee makes me “unapproachable” or whatever, EVEN when it’s trimmed, then again I’ve also been told it looks good on me. Maybe it’s the dark hair? Bear in mind that I also apparently smile (most of the time).
I think people just parrot what they hear without actually thinking about the words that come from their mouths. They don’t consider whether or not THEY like something, but instead subconsciously subscribe to the current consensus on the topic.
i.e., if some vaj-rag has a picture of a celebrity with a beard and the caption is something like “lookin dirty!” then beards will be associated with that vernacular/sentiment. If the same picture has a more positive caption, all of a sudden facial hair is “in.”

It’s Black History Month - we get to scare as many white folks as we want and get no negative repercussions. Get your Angry Black Man on my brotha!

Or you can be like me. Just say FUCK 'EM! FUCK 'EM IN THE ASS! lol… I’m trying my damnest to remember what movie this was from, but I know Bernie Mac said this… Unless I’m taking my own picture, I always get my ABM on.
My bf has a goatee and I like it on him, it suits his face, but I also like all the different stages: cheeks clean shaven and goatee trimmed up, then a little bit of scruff on the cheeks, and when it starts to fill in a bit more. Variety is the spice of life, right? Plus, when we’re layin in bed watching tv I like being able to rub my fingers against the grain when it gets a bit longer.
Then he goes all old skool with a safety razor and badger brush, so that’s fun…all I gotta do is bat my eyes a few times and he’ll whip me up a nice warm lather for my legs :-p

Someone happened to ask me why I don’t smile in pictures (I haven’t found one that I have actually)…and I thought of the Prof X’s other thread, so I quick wittily said, “Black men don’t smile in pictures…It’s Black History Month!” Got a good laugh from that…not sure why though.
