nice work
front squats helped my deadlift more than it helped back squats. but I can do them anymore, so now i am sad, and weak, and pathetic.

Couldn’t hurt…I’ve always liked lunges. I tried doing lunges with 135 on my shoulders, made me sick they were so hard.
Thanks for stopping in guys. Starting to get comfortable with front squats and lunges.

Great work going on here, Steve. Your log title is killing me, though. If you’re weak as a kitten, I may as well quit lifting.

Yep. Me too.
That would be one bad ass kitten.

Hahaha, ain’t that the truth. Nothing weak in this log.

“Muscle Kitteh”

No kidding.
Thanks all. I’m feeling a little less ‘weak as a kitten’ since my 2 week downtime. Going to put squats back into the rotation and use front squats as an assist exercise. I think my deads tank when I don’t do back squats.
good work in here. I like the walking lunges. I keep thinking of doing them. Haven’t in years. I know they are good. But I always find reasons not to do them…

I keep reading single leg work is important so I decided to give it a try. I’m hoping the lunges help with some of my imbalances(physical not mental).

Bench is coming back. 385 is the most I’ve tried in months. Also,I haven’t done 15 chins in a row for 20 years. I’m pumped things are moving in the right direction.
Great work, that’s a big bench and a lot of chins.
46 chins. Wow. I better get moving.
And great work on the bench. Must feel awesome to be hitting numbers you haven’t seen in awhile.
Thanks Jack and KP. Its a good feeling when things are moving in the right direction. I just need to stick to the plan and not jump all around like I usually do.
Have any of you read this article?
That’s a very thought provoking article. I’ve always believed that it’s how much you eat not what you eat. That if you ate 7000 cals of lettuce a day (if it were possible) you would gain weight and if you ate only 1000 cals a day of lard you would lose weight. But I am suprised that his cholesterol, tryglicerides and blood pressure all fell too just because he got lighter.
This leads me onto something I’ve often wondered. We know excess weight in the form of fat creates extra work for the heart, but does carrying extra weight in the form of muscle (even though it’s functional) stress your heart too? Can your heart tell the difference? or is it all just “weight” and an extra burden?

I personally think extra weight is basically extra weight when it comes to your internal organs, be it fat or muscle. You have got to push blood through your body, and if its bigger, that’s more pushing, more oxygen to deliver, more waste to get rid of, and more stress. Getting real big is not the best recipe for longevity.
