BBB:Big, Bald and Beautiful

It’s amazing you got a workout in Steve. When there is personal conflict aroung my house, I cant get motivated to train… 195x any amount is damn impressive to me!

I bet your like me, when things get rough I HAVE to lift. It keeps me even keeled.

I can train when I’m angry but not if I’m worried about something. I eat when I’m worried.

Thanks all for your advice and useful information. I’m definitely not static stretching before a workout any more.

In-laws,fighting kids and a grumpy wife. Needless to say I was really pissed off when I worked out tonight. I easily pressed 195x15. I could have gotten 20. Wish I could bottle this and use it every workout.[/quote]

Steve, if you can hit 195x15, you got more than 250x1 in you. No doubt!

You may be right Skip. I’ve upped my food intake lately and that always pushes my numbers up. And I’ve stopped any conditioning for a bit. I really want to deadlift 600.

A little adrenaline always gets shit moving.

Where are you at, weight-class wise?

I must weigh 265. I’ll be in the 275 class.

Sweet. That leaves some room to keep the calories up running right into the meet.

Well now. You’re a strapping boy, aren’t you? And that IS good that you can eat your way right up to the meet without worrying about weigh-ins.

Jack,I’ve added a protein shake or two a day. I’ve eaten to much junk lately. Got to stop that.

Mrs K,is strapping another word for ‘husky’? I haven’t missed many meals in the last 20 years. But this is about as heavy as I want to get.

You should hit the 600 no problem. What I would do if I were you is find out what kind of bar you are going to be pulling with, then find a gym that has one, and practise with it. Probably will be a Texas or Okie bar, those both have a lot of slack you can pull out of them, if you get good with that kind of baar it can add a few pounds on your pull.

Thanks Pete. Not sure I’ll get a chance to get to a gym.

How much do the bars differ? I understand that the knurling patterns vary, but I guess I’m pretty stoopid about this.

I find the difference between deadlifting with a good deadlift bar, like an Okie, or pulling with something like a Qbar or standard oly bar, to be two different worlds.

195 x 15?
100+95 x 15?
Bar, 2x45s,2x25s,2x5s x 15?
Me minus 40 lbs x 15?
Steve, you can MP more than 250#. I can and there’s no way I could do 195x15. My delts would explode. That is, looking for appropriate superlatives here, like really totally awesome, dude.
You’ll get the 500# dead.

Thanks Harry. I’m hoping to catch you one day.

Both boys had tournaments this weekend. When I got home tonight didn’t feel like doing much. The up coming Sundays look much better for working out.

Getting back to my best bench. Got 320x11 a year or so ago. I think the video is still on my HUB page.

320 x 11. Wow.

Harry’s math is pretty advanced.

Have you seen how much Harry clean and presses?? And he’s like 6’3’'. I don’t dare say anything about his math skills.
