BBB:Big, Bald and Beautiful

Outstanding, now go crush them.

Thanks guys. I’m excited to be training for something. Can’t wait for deadlifts tonight.

USPF is actually one of the oldest Feds, they just kinda fizzled for a few years. Used to be the ‘feeder’ federation for the IPF, but all that messy ‘testing’ got in the way and the USAPL took the role. They are doing quite the resurge right now, after years of only hosting meets for the most part in California.

Good luck, you are going to do great. 1000 is easily within your reach.

Pull some big weights Steve. Looking forward to follwong your training.

Thanks Pete. I just assumed this local guy started it because he runs all the local meets and just started doing them a couple years ago.

Wison, gonna try to pull some heavy weights. I hope not to disappoint.

Cool stuff, Steve. You are gonna do great! What Wilson said…looking forward to watching the training.

That’s great to have a meet on the calendar! Looking forward to following your training leading up to it and seeing how you do at the meet.

USPF. Was that the precursor to USAPL?

tear shit up

I cant wait to read all your training and then see the results…

Thanks MJ. I hope not to disappoint. I deadlifted 550 and benched 405 my last push/pull. I want to break 1000 lb total this time.[/quote]
Rock on

Thanks all. Felt great tonight.

9/17
deadlift 325x5,375x5,425x10
ab roll 5 sets
GM 165 5x5
hanging leg raises 3 sets 5eps

I suck big time at hanging leg raises. Another exercise I need to do more often.

I’m off to Vermont for a hockey tournament this weekend. I plan on benching Sunday night when we get back. I haven’t benched in months. Its been all cgb. Should be interesting.

Aaaah another meet prep for ya, nice going. No pushing in my future for a while but I can’t wait to follow your training.

Steve, I’m really looking forward to seeing the whole process and results. I learn a lot every time I follow someones meet prep.

My son and I got in late yesterday. His team got cruched but we had a good time. Good group of kids and parents. After three hours of driving and eating poorly I only felt like benching.

9/19
bench 225x5,265x5,300x8,280x5,5,5

Regular bench felt weird but my shoulder felt good. I’ve lost a bit of strength. Hopefully it comes back quickly.

Is the drop in regular bench from sticking with CGB or from lack of benching?
I am sure that it will come back quickly. You’re a hoss. You’ll be back and beyond before you know it.

Glad you and your son had a good time. Losing is never easy. I wish that I had learned to handle it better, when I was a young fella.

How old is your son? Do you & him ever travel up north here for any hockey tourneys? Any particular reason why only doing CGB instead of regular (shoulder issues?).

Skip, maybe I’m just a big sissy. Most likely it was lack of doing bench. It should come back soon.

Scott,I was with my 11 yeat old son this past weekend. I also have a 9 year old boy. We’ve been up to Quebec but thats it for Canada. It was an aching left shoulder that switched me to cgb. But things seem good right now.

I’ve got some questions I’m sure you guys can give me some insight on.

1.What does leave some in the tank really mean. Is it one rep to spare or more. I often go to failure. Is that bad to do all the time?

2.Wendler says two lifting days a week is ok for a lifter my age. Is that enough?

3.Are DE days necessary for raw lifters?

4.How often are you guys static stretching?

Sissy? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha… Surely you jest.

  1. I think you’ve got it. Finishing a set while still capable of doing another rep or so.

  2. FOR ME…4 days a week is too much and 2 days is too little. Sometimes 3 gets to be too much, but I compensate by being less intense on one of the days.

  3. I have no clue.

  4. I stretch lightly every morning and before working out. I stretch a little harder on off days.

Of course, I am not one to follow.

  1. I think thats it for me.
  2. I like lifting every day, but then again, if I was as strong as Wendler 2 days woould be enough for me.
  3. I’ll be damned if I know.
  4. Whats a static stretch?

You are doing good with your training Steve

  1. you’ve got it
  2. you seem to recover pretty well from your training. 3 or 4 days should be fine. Just stick with a plan all the way through December 5.
  3. DE days aren’t necessary for anyone. Some get a lot out of them, others are better off just getting some rep work it, and general assistance.
  4. I am trying to stretch every day. it helps me a lot.
