i really fear for the future. i’m sure you can relate. saying no is really hard. plus i can’t imagine how i’ll react the first time a kid hurts her, punches her or a boyfriend treats her like crap.

My guess is that it will, at some point, involve an overhead press. And rightfully so…

You’ll handle the issues that come up just fine and she’ll grow up very happy. I’m sure she won’t let boys treat her poorly. She’ll see how well you treat your wife and expect the same.

hah, I have been relieved to have boys. Not that part of me doesn’t really want a little girl to spoil rotten, but at the same time I had visions of a few years down the road counting out my bullets every Friday and Saturday night…

See, you can have a nice pleasent conversation over here. Glad I had boys, too.

Ok, speaking as a parent of an attractive, intelligent, athletic 15 year old girl…why God, why? What did I do to deserve this punishment. Between fending off Sr’s ( my daughter is a freshmen), checking the cell phone, computer, facebook, twitter accounts…I definitely need more ammo…a lot more ammo…

I seriously have some anxiety when i think about this sort of stuff. How do you do it??

OG, having two boys I never gave any thought to what I would do if I had an attractive daughter. That must be stressfull. Good luck.

Scott, don’t worry you’re going to blow your aorta doing deadlifts within a couple years.

Harry, we can be normal sometimes. Just don’t get used to it.

Pete, you’re in my boat. Sons only club.

Meat- I wish I had pearls of wisdom for you but it truly is one day at a time, helmet buckled…and I have an amazing wife who bleeds countless amounts of intel from our kids and then I work the battle lines. The last boy who showed up I merely stared right through him and said " Everything in this house belongs to me and I mean everything, so don’t touch what isn’t yours and we will get along just fine". Funny, he hasn’t been back…Of course my wife’s death stare at me after that was far more painful.

I have no problem with threating them with physical violence. My 9th Grade (step)daughter brought home a ass clown as a first boy friend. I told him if he was cuddled up under a blanket, was found in a bedroom, or laid his lips on her in my presence at any time, he was going out the front door on his ass and he could come back in three days and try again.

And I totally mean that, what good is it to be big bald and ugly if you can’t use it to frighten away unsuitable suitors…

have all your fat hairy tattooed lifter friends over for a shotgun cleaning and bowie knife sharpening party just before he comes to pick her up. make sure at least 1 guy is telling a story about a guy he shivved in the joint last year. remind him to have her back by 9:30. have at least 2 half empty whiskey bottles in sight.

all of my friends fit that bill. one of my late departed friends was covered in jail house tats, had a huge mohawk always wore his bowey knife and rode harleys with me. He had a daughter as well. He once said that when she got old enough to date and a boy would come to the door he would repeat these words to the poor SOB- “you go out and have a great time tonight… just remember whatever you do to my daughter…I’m gonna do to you when you get back.”

I’ll be using that line later.

ouch

So if the boy takes your daughter to an expensive restaurant, rubs her feet, introduces her to his parents and tells her she’s beautiful you’re going to do the same for him??

it’s called positive reinforcement.

5/13
1a.hang clean+press 205 1x8 sets
1b.dead hang chin ups 2x8
2a.front squat 315 1x8 sets
2b.cgb 335 1x8

Felt like doing singles today. Got good depth with front squats. Maybe 5x5 next workout.

Pharmaceuticals my friend. Drop them into their drinks. haha. I have an almost 16 year old as well and we’ve had a fun year. On the one hand she’s beautiful, athletic and smart. On the other, she can be a total bitch. She’s freaking smart and funny as hell. I don’t worry about boys hurting her feelings and such. I worry more about the emotional wounds she’ll leave on them.

On the bright side I still have my own teen years fresh in my mind and undimmed by time and she’s not as bad as I was. She better not be or there’ll be hell to pay.

I’m there right now. My wife says I give in all the time. I do, but only on the really unimportant things. The things that matter aren’t open for negotiation, and all 4 of my daughters know that. As for the last line, I just went through that shit with my 18yr old. Her boyfriend was a drunk and abusive and she hid it well (I guess fear does that). When she finally told us about it, it was all I could do to not commit homicide. Some people think I was being rhetorical at the time. I was not. On top of that, I had to make sure no one else committed homicide. We made sure she did all the right things…file a report, get a ppo, etc. To her credit, she wised up, finally. Apparently, he didn’t learn his lesson the first time this shit happened and I choked him out…he is 23, so he isn’t a minor. A little less self-control and a little more emotion, I would be sitting in the clink right now. As it is, she’s moved on, already is alot happier, and we’ve moved on…mostly. My wife went target shooting and put his name on the target. Needless to say, bulls-eye!!!
