BB Press vs DB Press

Which exercise would you choose and why, standing barbell shoulder presses or standing dumbell shoulder presses?

Between the two, I prefer barbell overheads. However, that is purely because I enjoy Oly lifts which require barbell work.

However, DB presses, permit you to maintain a pure vertical stance without worrying about hitting yourself in the chin with the bar. (yes, I have done that before).

Why choose one of the other? How about doing both. On day 1 do Barbell presses, on day do dumbbell presses. to add more variety, on Day three do handstand pushups with a weighted vest one and at the next session do Resistance band presses. All great exercises.

Dumbells are always supperior to barbells, because they are the ultimate free weight. But I choose barbell, only because it’s versitile and dumbells never come over 50lbs at the stores near me.

Oh baby, me too.

Last year…first time in a new gym…135 lbs for a BB push press…last rep of last set…BAM…minus 5 teeth (pieces of 5 teeth anyway).

I quietly stripped the weights, put the bar away, and walked to the lockerroom. As soon as I got in there I started spitting out fragments of my mouth.

I still love that exercise, though.

Do both.

This response should be framed.
