You ever make deer jerky? It’s makin me hungry just thinking about it. My uncle used to barter the bass he caught for deer jerky from his hunter pal. Venison is some tasty stuff.

Of course I do. Deer jerky is amazing. Dehydrators are cheap at most hunting type stores. And yes sir it is. Plenty of it around too!

How’ve you been? Not posting your training anymore? Me either, too busy. How’s school and your little man?

Incredible.

Howd I miss this.

Been doing well. I got an internship with the DA’s office, so I have been really busy with that and school. Little man is doing great. Rocking first grade haha.

I have not been logging here, just keeping it in my journal. Not really doing anything amazing or interesting lately. Just trying to stay in the gym and have been nursing my right knee a bit. Strained my patella.

Hope all is well with you and your little one.

Thank you sir!

I really wish a gym closer to me would get some heavier dumbbells. I am thinking of just buying my own and leaving them at the damn gym closest to me.

My apartment building has a little “fitness room” that I occasionally work out in when my University gym is closed. Not much, but it has one of those 4-way universal machines that includes a chest press, pec deck, lat pulldown (which can also be used for tri/rope work). I went ahead and put a cheapo EZ-curl bar with a couple of plates and a few dumbbells in there as well, all stuff I picked up used on Craigslist. It’s typically left unmolested and the landlords were okay with me putting my own “equipment” in there as well. I just didn’t feel like shuttling back and forth between the fitness room and my own apartment in the middle of a workout.

A commercial gym is obviously quite different than my dinky apartment fitness room, but if you speak to the gym’s owner/manager and explain your purpose, I hope they’d play along and let you leave your own DB’s there if you explained your reasoning. Obviously you run the slight risk of someone else effing them up, but come on, they’re pieces of heavy iron…can someone really “break” a 125-lb dumbbell?

Don’t answer that. I’m quite sure they could if they tried.

The only other reason I can think of for them saying “no” is a fear of safety issues or not wanting to set a precedent of letting gym-goers bring in their own equipment.

Jeezes your strong I hate you
