Basketball And Muscle Recovery

I’m a skinny ectomorph (5’5", 125) following Berardi’s S2B book. How much, if at all, would playing about 60 to 75 min of 3 on 3 basketball once per week interfere with muscle recovery and growth? I try to space it so that basketball is at least 36 hours apart from any lifting.

I love basketball and really enjoy playing ball with my friends. I’d hate to stop playing but I do want to get bigger. Thanks for your feedback.

IF you do plan on playing ball, eat, eat and did I mention eat even freaking more? You’re burning lots of calories so you need to replace them…at least.

Can I still gain mass in the right places (basically everywhere except the abdomen) if I play basketball for about an hour a week? I do eat a lot. 3500 cal daily and more than that when I play ball. I don’t mind eating more but I want to gain mass in the right places.

Instead of drinking water while you’re playing drink a couple bottles of Gatorade to balance out the calories you’re burning and drink a post drink like you do after lifting. Don’t give up what you like to do because in the long run having fun with your friends is an important part of a balanced life.

Thanks for the replies. I guess my question is, if I weight-lift Sun, Tues, and Thurs evening and play basketball Sat morning for 60 or 75 min, will I lose some of the muscle I gained during the week/gain muscle at a slower rate from playing basketball Saturdays?

I actually have an electrolyte drink that I add honey to and drink before and during ball. After playing, I have a workout drink with protein and carbs. I try to replace all the calories I lose.
