I was told today by a trainer that when performing the barbell rollout, I was not rolling out far enough. I have been rolling out until I feel I am as far as I can go without my lower back dipping, which I thought was the correct form. Any insight is appreciated.
It is my understanding that you go until you can no longer maintain a flat back.
Also, if you aren’t already, make sure you’re using strictly abs and not arms to get back to the beginning position.
Hope this helps!
Ask him to “show you how its done”. I bet he can’t do it, or does it wrong =).

Hey I see a couple Nebraska guys in here, where are you guys from??? I live in Kearney. I have been doing these rollouts too. They seem to really strain my lower back though.

Grand Island, or La Isla Grande in El Conquistadorian language. Longtime vet here…used to post under TeddyKGB 72.
boss9er, are you keeping your abs fully contracted? If not, this should help. Also, you may be going too far if it’s straining the lumbar area. I had the same problem at first.
Yeah sweetpea, that could be it. So you are from GI huh??? I just moved from there. I worked out at HealthPlex. If thats where you go, I probably saw ya there.
Actually I’m El Conquistador. Just realized that my wife was logged in under her screen name (Sweet Pea).
Haven’t lifted at the Plex since arount '97. We got an Anytime Fitness here now that’s open round the clock, and it’s leaps and bounds better.
Yeah I saw that place opened. It actually opened about a month after I joined Healthplex but I signed on for a year so it was too late by then. Its cool to know there are some more central nebraska people on here.
Boy, we’re really hijacked this thread, haven’t we? Sorry all…LOL!
There’s a few others running around. Mr. Cold, Jason B, grunt, Pudge, and a few others I can’t remember. Cy Willson’s from
It is cool, as it’s frustrating that out of all the people here in GI I seem to be the only one that knows about Biotest and T-Nation, other than the few I led here when I ran GNC. Omaha too.
Ahh yeah, when I was working out at the plex I always wondered if any of those guys came here. So you used to run the GNC??? I guess I wont hold that against ya. HA HA, just kiddin. Well, good to see there are some other t-men around in the area.
