Gyms in public schools in australia are pretty non existent.
The private schools in the major cities usually have pretty good gyms, probably to try and help them with the arms race of what school is better at sport.
That said, I can understand that getting banned from your your gym for board pressing would seriously suck and is pretty much complete bs.
Actually even the federations are going through a hard time at the moment. HWA just had a meeting with the founding members yesterday saying how the Golden Days are over, and how we need to get more members, better attitudes, and better funding.
The problem is that the guys running the place dont have any government funding, and so there is no money to spend on advertising, and everyone who could do something about it don’t give a rats ass because they don’t understand how the infrastructure works.
Anyways, the old fogeys running the joint are trying to revive the olympic lifting scene, so if any of you are interested in joining give a shout.
Or if you have ideas for business sponsorship, friends of media or anything of the like, give a shout about that too.

LOL, “athletic director”, “sports coach”? This is Australia, we have a PE teacher who knows the rules to British Bulldog and Handball and drives the skinny tall kids to cross-country events. If we’re lucky he can find the pump to inflate the footy.
This guy is seriously lucky to have a gym and if board presses was all he was going to miss out on he should have sucked it up - even if the guy who banned them was a moron.

haha so true. Our PE teachers cared more about drinking beer and reading porn in the staff-room than teaching us anything.

uou mean porn actually has words? huh.
I cant believe there is an olympic lifting gym in Hawthorn, I grew up in the area and had absolutly no idea and had to deal with the shitty fitness centres instead.
That sucks.
Lol yeah, I really had to put in an effort to find the place. Come round one time, its open most days 5-8pm. Cheaper than going to a fitness club too - thats the thing I don’t understand lol. Its right next to the Hawthorne Aquatic/leisure Center. They don’t even have a street sign on the main rd directing you to it.
Hey, there are three in Tassie. You just need to know the secret handshake.
