I do cheat front squats though, so I think the belt squat could be promising. I know I should just not cheat a movement, but it’s a lot easier said than done when I’ve been back and front squatting the same way for years. But maybe I can try front squats again after deadlifting next time and see how they look and feel. Besides, Spud is out of stock, so wouldn’t be buying anytime soon.
There are few things I find more impressive than a girl who can bang out a bunch of quality pullups. Holy crap.
Pause your squats?
@guineapig, @flappinit i crie
@Bagsy for context, I’ve been trying to get stronger in pullups and the best I’ve done was 6 in a row. Lol
Everybody’s different. Principle of individual differences and all that jazz.
I think we have an example here of a posterior chain dominant individual judging buy their form vids and training experiences. Kinda an outlier quite far on that side of the bell curve.
What works for most people even what works for moderately posterior chain dominant squatters is less likely to work here. Fronts might be worth a shot. Don’t remember if @Bagsy has given em a good go yet
@whang I don’t now how much frequency and volume for pull-ups you’d typically do, but if you are already at 6 in a row, then I bet you could get better pretty quickly by increasing one of those two variables. I just practice lots
@guineapig Sometimes there are stints where I don’t really do front squats (like now), but I’ve done them on and off usually for months at a time for the past several years. I’ll try again this weekend
My squat form is similar to yours. @aldebaran suggested tempo squats.
That’s a fair amount. Any reason this time be different u think?
Earlier this year I worked up to 115x9 front squats after a deadlift session but would still struggle to back squat 135x10 fresh
So u saying there’s good carryover when u get stronger at one it helps improve the other or we talking about relative performance that ur front squat is pretty close to back squat
What have you done to improve your pullup game?

I was mad at myself for misgrooving the last few reps on bench and not getting 10. But i checked an old spreadsheet and it’s a PR so can’t be too disappointed
Greasing the groove. But all went to shit when corona happened. Don’t worry, I’ll come back with a vengeance!

Toured another apartment this morning. Small building, only 16 tenants. And of course, I care about being able to lift at home safely. On the ground floor but disappointed to learn that the floor is not supported by concrete.
Then the landlord (really great guy) showed me the basement. Each unit gets its own storage unit. It’s not very big, around 5.5x7 or so. But I think I could just store all of my equipment in there and potentially even lift in it. Or I could just move everything a couple feet out of the storage unit and be able to lift easily. I’m pretty quiet, so I don’t think I would disturb anyone.
Would this make me an asshole of a tenant? This feels like some Joe DeFranco storage closet silliness. Apartment is awesome otherwise. Plus I wouldn’t have to build a platform ($$$$).
What is expected of tenants I imagine varies greatly depending on the nation and culture but how about asking?
Ask the landlord that question. Better be upfront about this stuff, although personally I can’t see the harm if you aren’t clanging plates around at midnight.
Yeah, probably right on that. I’m going to text and ask him before I submit an app. None of my friends lift and probably couldn’t judge how sane/insane I am being if I asked their opinions.
I am assuming this is in feet. How long is your bar?
