I had to modify the end of this session because Cable Guy took over the cable machine.
Good news is that it seems my toe isn’t broken after all. Just a sprain.
More rambling because I’m so annoyed by how betrayed I feel by my body:
I waffle back and forth between feeling discouraged and encouraged by the B12 treatment. I just want my brain to work normally. At least this week I was able to focus for a few hours each day on work.
This week I explained my improvement and suspected nerve involvement to a PCP, who believed me but then insisted that I now stop taking B12 because my levels are “dangerously high” despite never mentioning what exactly those dangers are (there is no documentation of B12 toxicity anywhere). Absolutely useless.
On the same day I saw a NP in the GI department because my surgeon had recommended it. So, I was waiting months for this. I honestly considered canceling it, but given my recent B12-related issues, I figured I’d go. This NP was more receptive and conducted bloodwork for celiac (we agreed we probably wouldn’t find anything because I already eat gluten-free) and pernicious anemia. I actually did test positive for intrinsic factor antibodies, which is highly specific for PA. Unfortunately, this could be a false positive caused by recent B12 injection. I didn’t tell any provider that I am self-injecting, so my only sliver of hope is that I could somehow leverage this result to get B12 ampoules prescribed to me so that I don’t have to buy from overseas.
