I had to modify the end of this session because Cable Guy took over the cable machine.

Good news is that it seems my toe isn’t broken after all. Just a sprain.

More rambling because I’m so annoyed by how betrayed I feel by my body:

I waffle back and forth between feeling discouraged and encouraged by the B12 treatment. I just want my brain to work normally. At least this week I was able to focus for a few hours each day on work.

This week I explained my improvement and suspected nerve involvement to a PCP, who believed me but then insisted that I now stop taking B12 because my levels are “dangerously high” despite never mentioning what exactly those dangers are (there is no documentation of B12 toxicity anywhere). Absolutely useless.

On the same day I saw a NP in the GI department because my surgeon had recommended it. So, I was waiting months for this. I honestly considered canceling it, but given my recent B12-related issues, I figured I’d go. This NP was more receptive and conducted bloodwork for celiac (we agreed we probably wouldn’t find anything because I already eat gluten-free) and pernicious anemia. I actually did test positive for intrinsic factor antibodies, which is highly specific for PA. Unfortunately, this could be a false positive caused by recent B12 injection. I didn’t tell any provider that I am self-injecting, so my only sliver of hope is that I could somehow leverage this result to get B12 ampoules prescribed to me so that I don’t have to buy from overseas.

Maybe it’s obvious, but I’m announcing that I have to step away from logging for a bit.

I’m still trying to recover from B12 deficiency, which is slower than expected and very much affects my cognitive function. However, this thankfully seems to be heading in the right direction. The NP in GI actually offered me an endoscopy, which I might pursue. It doesn’t change the treatment method though, but getting an official diagnosis of pernicious anemia could help me get B12 ampoules prescribed.

More importantly, I’m under a lot of pressure to renew my lease until November even though I may lose my paycheck in July. So, I need to speak with my advisor and figure out what I’m going to do.

To top things off, my best friend had a seizure over the weekend and has been in the hospital, where I’ve spent a lot of time. It turns out she had a stroke, which is shocking because she shows no signs of one. She hasn’t been discharged yet. Anyway, she isn’t allowed to drive for six months, so I will almost certainly have to step in and help her a lot for the foreseeable future.

Still training for sure, but I just get lazy about logging and then even lazier about catching up.

Do what’s right for you - logging is only helpful if it is, if it is just one more of too many things you should drop it until such time as it would seem like a positive for you.

We’ll miss you, but hope you’re back in time when it suits you! Keep on the training, as we know you will!

We will miss you.

My mom second stroke was not classic so from now on any neuro type of issue gets her a ride to the hospital.

Take care.

I will look forward to your return. Take care of yourself.

Come on back when you can. I like reading about your adventures, and I want to see how the cycling goes wherever in the world you end up.

I did that with my old buddy that had bone fragments in his brain from a previous fracture. It was kinda fun, actually. The produce section will never be the same!
