I mailed out my trainer yesterday for a replacement because it’s really loud and the manufacturer is sending me a replacement. Not sure when that will show up. I think I will become well acquainted with the cardio machines in my apartment’s gym in the meantime. I think they’ll also be good for returning to very light activity after surgery.
This was on a seated bike with a backrest, so not quite like a “real” bike. Honestly was kinda nice because I was able to read a lot during the ride!
Good news is that it looks like I’ll be able to sell my 245 pounds of plates this week for $220, which seems decent. My bank account is really hurting right now…
Thanks! Yes, I guess it’s worth a try. I also forgot to mention that my best friend is a thyroid cancer survivor as of only a couple years ago. ![]()
Isn’t dosing supposed to be in micrograms?
Glad you’re situated and well equipped! ![]()

I’m so tired. I slept for only a few hours last night because a fire alarm falsely went off super early this morning, and there’s no way I was going back to sleep afterwards. So, I did a quick DB leg workout. I had never done sumo squats before, and while they feel a little silly, I actually feel my legs working during them.
Dragged myself to present in lab meeting, and after coming home I’m on the verge of napping at 6 PM instead of doing some cardio and errands I had planned. I haven’t finished taking care of everything at my old apartment, I have tons of work to do, I’ve been losing tons of hair, blah. I just want this next week to be over.

This is essentially the only productive thing I’ve done today. Just tired from all the Life Stress.
I’ve been thinking A Lot about the surgery. More than expected. I have had two dreams about it at this point. I’m honestly starting to question myself a bit despite the MRI findings, like maybe it isn’t so bad after all because I haven’t had a wave of pain that I expected since coming off of BC, which is weird. It was suspected on only one MRI image… It would be so embarrassing to wake up and find out it isn’t so bad. At the same time I think it will be bad because it usually doesn’t show up on MRI unless it’s deeply infiltrating… ugh. I can’t wait to go under anesthesia and forget about my life obligations and problems
Need to put this mystery to rest…
I had a hysterectomy in December. My uterus was filled with fibroids and it was taking over my entire pelvis. I also told myself that it wasn’t really that bad, that I probably didn’t need the surgery. I went ahead and had it anyway. Best decision I ever made in my life. That evil organ was causing all kinds of havoc that I didn’t even realize. Scary for sure, but you would be surprised how much discomfort you start to think of as normal and just ignore.
Congrats! I would have considered one much more seriously had adenomyosis been detected on my MRI. I do think one may be in my future though. My (adoptive) mother had an emergency hysterectomy when I was younger, and I still remember that quite vividly. Unfortunately it was quite invasive given the situation.
Oof, I’m so sorry. I’ve now learned to never underestimate the havoc that pelvic conditions can wreak. I lost a non-trivial fraction of this year to pelvic pain or discomfort. I hope you are symptom-free now.
That’s what I repeatedly read among those who had a hysto. It seems to be more of a mixed bag for endo, but in the end I think stories still lean more toward the positive.
Yeah, I agree. Easier said in general than about oneself though. I’m not really scared of the procedure itself because I already had a lap (not for endo) 3.5 years ago and didn’t think it was that bad. I’m more scared of wasting the surgeon’s time and also having to tell some of my friends that maybe it was in my head to some degree (or completely), and so I’m just a wimp. ![]()
Thanks for chiming in!

Short workout today because I’m going to take care of things at my old apartment. I yanked my right abductor a bit, but I’m not concerned about such niggles. Trying to squeeze in as much activity as I can before Thursday so that I’ll welcome the break from training.
Thats a nice pace.

Just had an X-ray for my toe that’s still bugging me, and there is nothing wrong with any of the bones according to the provider. A radiologist will still review it, but damn. I guess that’s good news, but I’m not sure why that toe would still look and feel different ![]()
Toes can take there sweet time to fully heal. When I smashed my toe with 3 breaks. After it was ok, it still was a few weeks for the pain to subside fully.
Yeah, I broke the toe back in December and put more or less zero weight on it through walking or running for about five weeks, and that healed it.
But then I stubbed it lightly again (probably was still vulnerable), in April, and by the time I was out of the country for three weeks and felt the pain intensify, I had no choice but to walk on it tons every day. Since then it’s been on and off with the healing. Just weird because the bones look fine.
It could be nerve pain, which is a bitch to deal with.
I have arthritis in an old break in the ball of my foot. The doctor suggested carbon inserts, which do help keep it stable. It might help you, too, while it fully heals.
According to the radiologist:
FINDINGS: No acute fractures. Normal bony alignment with normal joint space preservation.
No erosions. No lytic or blastic bone lesion. No focal soft tissue swelling. No soft
tissue gas or radiopaque foreign body.
IMPRESSION: No radiographic abnormality of the right fifth toe.
It definitely could be a nerve issue, and that is kind of how it feels. Weird how it looks like the bone is sticking out whenever it flares up though.
It does fare better when I don’t bend it very much (i.e. walk a lot and/or wear shoes with a flexible sole), so I’m just going to rely on upcoming bedrest and stick to my stiffer shoes as I have been doing.

Slept horribly, found out last night that my favorite band is going on indefinite hiatus. Honestly, 2025 has been one of the hardest years of my whole life. Everything besides the trip I took a few months ago has been a dumpster fire.
At the very least that meant I was up early to squeeze this in before running tons of errands for the rest of the day. Stocked up on stuff at Costco yesterday, but I have a lot of food to prep.
Going to lift one more time tomorrow, then I’ll have a break for probably four weeks or so. Kinda sucks because it felt like I was settling into a rhythm. I’ve also been getting leaner (the main goal, of course), though the scale won’t budge. I don’t weigh myself at home, but I have been to enough doctor’s appointments lately to know the number. I’m stuck in the 130s still. Hate to be the person who wants to just blame their thyroid or health in general, but I do feel that something isn’t quite right. Hopefully I can see an endo soon and return to the deficit after I recover for a bit.
