A few hard 400m runs at the track with 400m recovery in between. I don’t even remember the last time I did intervals at the track. My out-of-shape times (1:35, 1:39, 1:35) were not as awful as I’d expected, and I felt like I had more in me ![]()

It was a really good weekend. Deadlifts already felt a lot lighter than last week. Getting leaner based on how my belt fits. I also received some of the best news in a super long time yesterday that I may share later but don’t want to jinx anything.

Damn, that sucked. I need to get a fan because opening the window just makes things worse now. And yeah, I gave up on the last interval. Whatever. I was supposed to do this threshold workout yesterday, but I just couldn’t. These past four days have been so overwhelming and shocking. Mostly emotionally, but that has translated into poor sleep and just feeling physically off on top of a lot of work stuff too.
Anyway, I’m now almost certain it’s going to happen, so I may as well get the news I mentioned off my chest (and because I need to put it somewhere since I have barely told anyone I know yet): In about 2.5 months I am going to not only meet but also travel for some time with my biological sister. And potentially our (half) brother. It’s definitely good news, but it’s also just a lot for me to take in because I’ve wanted to do this for much of my whole life and have encountered nothing but barriers, which still exist. We’re going to make it work though. (For those who read but are confused, I’m an international adoptee).
Glad I could turn this into a diary entry today. At least the bike workout distracted me a bit. ![]()

Thank you. It’s just as terrifying as it is exciting. Fortunately I will be traveling by myself for some time before it, but I didn’t expect her to suggest spending more than a day or two together.

Haha, hopefully not the case! She is sweet and has known of my existence for about a decade, and we’ve been in contact from time to time over the past several years. We do seem pretty similar to each other personality-wise, though I admittedly don’t have the greatest personality…
at the very least I think I’ll be able to express more or less all my thoughts. I couldn’t speak the language for a long time.
Of course I am terrified that she won’t like me in person, and in an ideal case we would probably meet for just a few hours at first with someone else present too instead of immediately staying together for days… but so it goes.

I was adopted from Russia. My adoptive parents never discussed my heritage with me during my childhood and did not want me to search, so I’ve had to do everything by myself. I managed to renew my Russian passport in December 2021. I think that should answer your question.

Was sweating so much. This went really well despite how terribly I’ve slept the past six nights. Just a couple months ago it would have likely been impossible for me to hold this power for so long. Newbie gains still, but it’s nice.
I used to go camping at Seneca Rocks a lot when I was a kid. Beautiful region.

I forgot to mention that I got one of those Nordsticks a few months ago because I became more interested in BW exercises. I should probably get a mat to spare my knees and be able to exert more force, but for now it’s okay. I used to do a lot of GHRs at my university gym. This isn’t a 1:1 replacement, and I think the verdict on Nordic curls is kind of mixed, but it’s something different.
