Not very happy with my deadlift performance because I feel like I left some reps on the table on the top and last sets. Oh well.

I am going to do random workouts until I leave a week from today.

My energy levels are low from the caloric deficit but not overly so. But that means fat loss progress is slower. So, I do not feel like I am progressing on either front. It is okay though. And I do look leaner by now (flexed but still):

I don’t remember a before pic but that does look lean. Great job!

Thanks, for better or for worse I don’t take photos very much. Always need to add more muscle though…

Three-mile run 23:31

Perfect temperature this morning but a little windy. My feet are actually quite tired because I have taken a lot of steps this week. Anyway, I am ecstatic that it seems like summer is gone for the rest of the year.

Thanks, Tim. I adore him, but I’m glad that he isn’t my dog though because he very nearly bit a stranger who wanted to pet him. Very close to a lawsuit today!

50 BPA
Lateral raises

3x8 pullups
50 pushups
Deadlift 205x3x5

I am glad I squeezed in some work this morning. Deadlifts felt heavier than I should, but hopefully some time away from the weights and being a little less strict with food will help me reinvigorate me. In a few hours I am off for a short vacation, and I will still be very active at my destination.

I just got home from DC today. I won’t resume training for a few more days, but I must recap the hike I did.

I really wanted to hike Old Rag last year when I went to DC for the first time. Sadly, that didn’t work out. I changed that this year. The conditions must have been the worst possible: arrived at the trailhead after 3 PM and encountered relentless rain, fog, and wind despite the forecast only days prior suggesting otherwise. My friend and I rented a car and wanted to follow through on our plan to do this hike. We almost turned around when we saw the first rock scramble but pushed onward.

This trek was a fine line between rock climbing and hiking. It seemed like the rock scrambles would never end, and to make matters worse we were racing against impending nightfall. Crawling across and squeezing through slippery rocks beat up my legs, hands, and wrists. The winds were so strong near the top that they felt like they could send me plummeting down the slope. The climax occurred when I had to almost jump from one rock to another while trying to not think about slipping and plunging to my death through the gap between them. Nauseating. Fortunately we managed to get back on the downhill trail loop just as it became pitch black. Relied on phone flashlights to light the soaking five-mile journey back to the vehicle, which we reached after 10 PM.

Lots of poor decisions were made on that day, and there wasn’t even a view to enjoy because it was so foggy. At least now I have an interesting story to tell. And I would do the hike again.

Me pretending that everything was totally fine:

Then I went to a music fest the next day and had a front row spot for a killer lineup. That felt a little less like near death.

Very eager to lift again soon though and live life a little less on the edge (physically and mentally).

“Adventure” is one word to describe that experience. I figured people here would find it entertaining
