Those are some very good reps!
Thanks! my upper back already hates me
your deadlifts are beautyful. is that ok to say to a girl?
I can’t speak for everyone, but I suspect most people, regardless of sex or gender identity, wouldn’t mind compliments on their lifts. Thanks!
I dunno man, I’m pretty harsh to yourself and @Cyrrex sometimes.
Yeah, but that is only because the mods choose not to take action.
Or more seriously, sometimes you figure out quickly that some people have a similar sense of humor and you can throw just about anything at them.
That’s because it’s how he likes it ![]()

I don’t think pressing while walking backwards was a good idea – I guess I really wanted to get it over with – but I did it! Not a PR by any means, but I haven’t been able to press 65 for more than a rep or two in a very long time. Also pleased with the bar speed on the final BBB set. Surprising given how beat up I still feel from Thursday.
Nice grind on that last rep of 65!
Thanks! Though I would say that was more like a 6 on the grind scale lol
So much for your never progressing the press. Onwards to 70.
I think I would cry if I ever pressed 70 for 5 reps.
It is barely even heavier. Obviously you can do it.
(this is the proper mindset)
Five pounds doesn’t sound like much, but it is almost 7% of my 1RM, so it realistically is a big leap.
Looks like I’m not trying hard enough then haha. My reps either move, or they don’t.
I feel you are deliberately misunderstanding the point.
Nah, I think some people are better at grinding reps than others.
Well, at least I realize I am realistic at times to a fault.
What are you worried might happen if you tried adopting more of the mindset @Cyrrex is talking about?
I don’t think I necessarily expect disappointment, but realism ensures that disappointments don’t sting so much. Plus, it’s slightly more pleasant when something good happens.

Today was actually kinda bad despite the PR. I didn’t feel great at all, which showed in the FSL sets – 100 was too heavy for 5x10, and I had to settle for 4x8. I’m a little disappointed in myself, but those sets were still a solid effort. I really had to will myself to do everything afterwards, especially the running. I think the deadlift day beat me up more than I thought. I’m looking forward to a brief deload soon.
