I was a little afraid 200 would feel heavy today, but it finally moved quicker like a few months ago. Even better was how light 165x5x10 felt. This ties my deadlift BBB PR from about a year ago. Sure, this time I wore a belt, but I’m also a bit lighter now, so I’ll call it even. I was planning to do 170x5x10 next week but might go for 175 to do BBB with 25s. Jim wouldn’t approve, but honestly the deadlift volume hasn’t been all that challenging these past several weeks.

Also took a little longer today. The sorta strange older guy (landlord and another guy have had some issues with him) in my building was doing laundry – fine – but hung out in the basement the whole time. And shirtless. I’m probably making something out of nothing, but it was a little weird.
Maybe take a vid next time. I cannot even wrap my head around how to even start doing one. Do you rep them, or do you just hold the position?

Even hanging around would be weird because no one hangs around in our building’s basement. There’s nothing to do there.
To be fair, he started doing his laundry before I started lifting. I thought he was just moving his stuff to the dryer like anyone would do, but then he hung around, sat in a chair. He wasn’t watching me because there is too much stuff in the way to do that anyway, and all he said was hi when he came back down. All in all, I think I am/was simply a little jaded because of what I heard from my landlord a couple weeks ago.

Honestly, at first I took it as mansplaining, but shortly after I sensed the alternative. I decided to simply take it literally. My sense of humor is for better or worse probably a bit darker ![]()

Not sure that makes it better!! At least with people you know in person you can get a sense of what things you say they take offense to or how far to go. Hard to do that with someone you only interact with online.

I can’t speak for you or others, and not that I don’t value online discussion, but there are other things to keep me up at night besides comments directed toward me on the Internet from people who don’t really know me – even if they offend. Easier to shrug things off. Unless someone threatens to take action in person, of course.

Not as hot as usual + there was a group of what looked like runners also running the hill this evening. It felt disgusting/good to do more reps today because I felt like I was dogging it the past couple of weeks. Today was a good deadlift day, I’m still on a mental high from last weekend, and I’m taking extra vitamin D, so all in all I feel half-decent right now!
Next week will be a true test, especially on press, front squat, and deads. Then the cycle is over. I don’t feel like an anchor is the right move now. Need to figure out what to do next, might reread Forever this weekend.
