Back to It

Or a Guy Ritchie flick.

I had my 8 year old over because he was home sick today, while I worked from home. It was awesome. I pretended to work for awhile then we watched cartoons and snuggled up under blankets and he spent hours building lego rockets. Best day ever. Dropped him off at his moms and went and did some circuit training, 80s style, and some sauna time. Sweated out a lot which was a goal, as yesterday I had a refeed and was back up 3lbs. And didn’t train.

Will see how tomorrows weigh in is. circuit consisted of basically things that would burn calories that didn’t hurt - back extension, abs, leg press, leg ext, leg curl, preacher curls, machine dips, machine rows. Did prolly 8 sets of rows and leg presses, figuring they were the bigger bang movements, and 5 sets of everything else. Then went home and made really good chicken thighs, and then my friend Mike of Dropkick Murphys/Street Dogs posted this video, and I have basically been wathcing it for hours:

I really like reading about your time with your kids. You seem like a real loving man, and I think that’s awesome.

My time with my kids is the best time in my life.

That was one tough story, just the last 3-4 pages alone. Well, Godspeed from an old t-nationer. All the very best wishes for your family and upcoming recovery. I will be following along, with all the others.

" PeteS Wayward Home for Derelict Anti-Racist Skinheads"…I would like to be involved when you come to Denver!

Oh my god, that video was awesome.

Love the Bad Brains X-Mas video. Happy holidays and healing to your kidneys and good luck with the weight loss.

Lost a few days due to sick kids, traveling to see gf, and then a sick me. Did some cardio here and there, and then this week:

Tuesday elliptical 25 minute

Wednesday
arms and abs

rope hammer curls, preacher curls, various pressdowns, machine abs

Thursday day

Sled drags with harness 8 trips

box squat with yoke bar 60/150/240/330/380 x 5

ghr/bss/cable abs 3 x 8 each

Good luck with the surgery, Pete. Rest up, rehab and come back swinging! Looking forward to your return.

Glad to see the “life” things have fallen into place. Stress is a real drag.

Happy holidays.

made it through surgery, lol, with 7 incisions from what I can determine. it’s been a week now, and I was in now way mentally prepared for the process. had to kick roommate #1 out, due to him being a 40 year old child, out, he still thinks Bukowski is too awesome, even in sobriety, so it’s me and my bank robber friend living the dream. great thing is he has already rehabbed half my basement, takes care of shit around the house, and also has become best friends with my kids. meanwhile my ex wants to know what his background is, lol.

we are moving in a bench, a power rack, a treadmill, a rower, and a shit ton of weights very soon hopefully. I have an old friend who recently got his chiropractor cirts, and also got divorced, and he has an opportunity to build a house and live off the land and his practice in Hawaii, so he is ditching his personal belongings and making the most of the opp.

I plan to ease myself back into training next week, cannot wait even to start to do some light lower body body weight stuff

great to hear.
Roomate #2 sounds like a solid dude.
Glad surgery went well- the two weeks post surgery for me where horrible.

your work ethic and this recent ride of positive shit- you are going to have an awesome rehab.

Happy New Year

My life is not the normal life of a 43 year old IT project manager by any stretch. But that is good. I am good at what I do for a living, I am good when healthy as a strength athlete, but only a few on here will understand the other stuff that I am more proficient at. But I will say no traceable crimes are being committed as I reconstruct my life post divorce, and my hapiness as a human being is increasing daily.

So I went in the gym one day last week, and fucked around with some lower body body weight stuff, some seated leg curls, etc.

Today I did this:

forward sled drags 90lb x 40 x 8

circuit

ghr
decline sits
bg split squats
x 4 each

incline treadmill 10 min

I hope to repeat this tomorrow. I have spent the last month in my recliner in more pain than I anticipated with the shoulder surgery, I start PT in 2-3 weeks, right now I finally have the energy and focus to start doing some core and conditioning shit. this will be a whole new journey for me.

The journey may be slow and tedious but can be very rewarding. Being content with your work and progress healing and training is priceless. Great to see you finding peace.

I remember it being a painful time. Argh.

It’s good to start PT. Feels like you’re moving forward. But PT hurts too.

Hang in there, Pete.
