Back From the Dead

…Well in a manner of speaking.

So after my wonderful month in the hospital I was down to an all time low bodyweight of 179!! To add to that sad fact it was all fat, my body had used all of my muscle as its sole source of protein because for TWO WEEKS the only food I could have was by IV.

To add to this while at the hospital I had multiple “procedures” and one actual surgery. Well after getting one of my procedures done I was wheeled back up to my room and given pain medicine to help relieve the pain from the procedure. The only problem was that the pain medicine they gave me before/during the procedure (I had to knowledge of time during all this) wasn’t in the computer system yet. Well low and behold they gave me way too much! My breathing began to slow and I was starting to go in and out. So they hooked me up to oxygen and gave me cold compresses and ice packs to try and keep me awake. Haha see attached picture.

So after all this I was left thinking “where do I go from here??” I am a strength athlete who just had his abs all cut up and told no heavy lifting for 6 weeks. So between that and the ass kicking Professor X gave me on the boards (which in hindsight thank you for) I decided to try my hand a bodybuilding! Why not? I’ve competed in strongman and powerlifting, time to try something new!

I have decided to do a show at the start of May 2010 in the novice division. I will follow that one up with one at the end of Aug. in the open category. I will give exact dates once the NPC has put out their official 2010 schedule.

So this brings us to where I currently am. I got out of the hospital on my birthday, Sep. 1st at a whopping 179. I currently weigh 220 which is an all time high for me! I have 2 new bodybuilding coaches which I work with on a daily basis. When I first got out of the hospital I was on a very high fat diet and I am now on a higher carb diet (just recently switched).

My current diet is as follows:

  1. Protein shake: 1 cup oatmeal, 1 banana, 1 tablespoon PB, 2 scoops whey protein
  2. 6 omega-3 eggs, 1 cup oatmeal, 1 tablespoon olive oil
  3. 1/2 pound of chicken, 1 large potato
  4. Same as 3
  5. Same as 1
  6. 1/2 pound of lean beef, 4 oz dry pasta, 1 large salad with olive oil

I also drink my own version of Anaconda that I created by guessing what was in it. Surprisingly I was very, very close! But now that it is out you bet your ass I will be buying it

I will follow this with some more recent pictures.

I know these are by no means bodybuilding poses and that’s why they aren’t in the RMP section! haha once I get a tan I’ll post some bodybuilding poses. I am currently red instead of tan lol

Similar to the first pic but you can sorta see the wheels

“relaxed”

By the way in the pictures I am wearing a black Lift Strong bracelet. My best friend growing up mother passed away at the start of Nov. from cancer at way too young of an age. I encourage everyone to donate to a charity during the holiday season if you have the means. Elitefts.com is doing some great things for Lift Strong and you can pickup some cool lifting shirts to support the cause.

Hmm my last picture won’t load.

Well anyway my lifting is as follows:

Monday - Chest
Tuesday - Back with deadlifts
Wednesday - off
Thursday - Arms
Friday - Shoulders
Saturday - Legs

Current Lifts all done raw:
Deadlift - 550
Rackpulls - 600x3
Squat - 405x2
DB Bench - 110’s for 2 sets of 8-10

I don’t do barbell bench for the time being since it isn’t the best chest builder out there.

Looks like you are well on your way, no small feat! All the best on your way to the stage.

A quote that I think really applies: “Who best can suffer, best can do” (Milton, Paradise Lost) .

Many thanks man and I love the quote! I’ll be saving that one!

Woo woke up this morning with a serious burning pain in my stomach! This has been an on and off issue since I had my galbladder removed. Oh well the morning protein shake took care of it.

good to see you back on track brah

called it a night after this. I wasn’t feeling too hot yesterday so nothing great to report. Just weighed myself and I am 218. Looks like I’ll be adding a second cheat meal per week as my weight has stalled and I’m still fairly lean.

Well I have started the Anaconda protocol on Thursday

barbell curls: 115 for 4 sets of 8-10
