Back Acne

Howdy all,

I have a question. I have severe back acne due to the usage of prescription testosterone gel (specifically, Testim 1%).

I’ve been on for five months with progressively worsening back acne for about 3 months. I stopped the progression with one of those benzoyl peroxide soaps and oxy pads.

I just got back from the doctor and she prescribed (yes, she and she was a hottie, too) 9% Triad body wash with 9% benzoyl peroxide and Doxycyline (specifically Doxa).

OK. Now to the question. There’s no doubt the wash will have an effect, but what about the Doxa? I’m a little leary of the effects on my immune system of prolonged (30 day) usage of antibiotics.

Any ideas? Should I take it or not? If so, should I do all 30 days? My outbreak is clearly from the steroid usage so will antibiotics have any effect at all?

Thanks,

RB

Antobiotics won’t have ANY effects on gains, test levels or anything else for that matter. However, they also SUCK at clearing up acne. I have had acne for the better part of the last 13 yrs, so Im pretty much the resident expert on the matter LOL.

Im not an expert on test replacement, but maybe someone else can point you in a better direction. I know there are several types of roids that you can get on that cause, at the very least, alot less breakouts.

As far as the acne, throw away everything the dermatologist gave you and cancel all you appointments. Dermatologists are garbage and dont know shit. First off, you need to get on the regimine. Go to acne.org and follow THAT program. Second, get your ass outside in the sun and get some on your back. That will help as well. There are a couple of supplements you can take to help clear your skin. One is B-5. And another is Zinc. Both will help clear your skin. You can get B-5 at any target. I would advise you to get your zinc right here from ZMA.

Saying dermatologists don’t know shit is ridiculous.

Anyway, my dermatologist put me on accutane about 11 weeks ago and my acne has almost completely cleared up. The only side effect I have is extremely chapped lips. The treatment lasts 6 months but is the most powerful acne drug available. Everybody I’ve talked to said it cleared them up for life.

don’t go with the drug option (though if you were Ro-accutane would be the way forward)
and don’t use the benzyl peroxide stuff because if you’ve not already noticed it will bleach all your clothes like crazy. Instead opt for the new thing i heard about called ‘Freederm’. It uses Vit-B and has had pretty good feedback. It will get rid of it for good if you keep applying it because it is prevention aswell as cure that’s why you apply it over the entire affected area.
i got the same problemo as you except it is because of my age not cause i’m juicing.

Cool. I’ll try the B-5 and Zinc route. I can’t get sun yet, because I’m doing Laser Hair Removal and I have another couple of treatments. After that, I’m planning on basically burning myself to a crisp until it goes away.

Thanks. Can’t do it. I’m doing Laser Hair Removal and accutane makes you photo-sensitive.

After the LHR, if getting extra sun doesn’t work, then I’ll do the accutane, I suppose.

I have used accutane during and after cycles and I think it’s the only way to go. Go to a doctor, tell him you have tried everything, tell him your acne is destroying your self esteem, and he’ll probably give you a script.
I used to be a HS teacher and basketball coach. I had this kid on my team who was an otherwise good looking kid, but had the worst acne you had ever seen. I was concerned about how to help him, but one day I told him that I had a horrible acne problem when I was in HS, and accutane fixed the problem (made up story). Long story short, he got some, and after about 6 months he completely cleared up. The transformation changed his life. He became much more outgoing, got a girlfriend, and all that. So there, an accutane success story.

mmmkay, I’ll say it again. Most dermatologists don’t know shit. There just like any other doctor out there that isn’t young and on the leading edge - basically clueless. Just like most personal trainers are garbage and most nutritionists don’t know shit from shine, most dermatologists, I would say at least 99 percent of them, are morons. There in it for the money. A quick 5 minute evaluation and a perscription for some garbage antibiotic that will only destroy your stomachs precious bacteria, not the acne on your back, and they push you out the door. Its like using a sledgehammer to kill a fly, only the fly keeps flying away. Think about it - would most, if any of us go to our local nutritionists or personal trainer in our neighborhood and take anything he says seriously? Most of them are so clueless and blind its almost funny. The same goes for derms as well. And I have my doubts, MAJOR doubts about accutane. Hmmm, a product that PERMANENTLY decreases natural oil production in our pores and PERMANENTLY shrinks oil glands. Yea, sounds safe to me. I only wonder what happens when you 60, and your bodies natural oil production in your eyes and skin slows.

Screw the derm. Unless your acne is severe, go for the regimine on acne.org. Just wear a white t underneath your shirts. You will be fine. You don’t need to get burned to a crisp either. Just a little sun every day. in fact, its good for you, your mood and your bones.
The vitamin in particular your looking for is B-5. I think most people take it in quite large doses for the acne clearing effect. And Zinc as well.

I have heard some stuff about gugglesterones, but i havent read up enough about it to comment. However, I have heard great things about its ability to help clear your skin. Might be something you wanna read up on and investigate.

Theres some good tips in here thanks for posting.

Thanks. I read the acne.org site. it’s pretty good. I’ll post back with results in 90 days…

Hey everyone - I dug up all the info on vitamin B5 you’ll ever need.

I have heard from SO MANY people about the effectiveness of this vitamin. The doses people recommend are huge, up to 10 grams, however, I bet you could start off at 500 milligrams a day, work your way up to a gram and go from there, seeing how your body adapts and reacts. Everyone is pretty much in agreeance its nearly, if not as good, as accutane, without nowhere near the side effects and its dirt cheap and over the counter.

Sorry forgot to include the link…

There are quite a few people that were on super doses…But again, you dont have to go on that high of a dose. Start at 500 milligrams and go from there. 500 is VERY safe, anyone could take that much…Then go from there…Gradually increase the dose, then as you clear, decrease it…
