Brad- I agree, I like anything that ruins the time of the people who fit the “stuff white people like” bill.

It’s funny that at the same time that we have all these threads bouncing around about what to do in barfights and in the streetz but at the same time some hipster homo is trying to bring his stroller in there.

It’s just fuckin amazing.
You seem angrier than I remember, Irish.
here’s what I think,

This subject matter sits soundly in Irish’s parlor. It brings on a whole new kind of pissed off when his right to drink as he sees fit is challenged.

Routine here. Kids, Grandpas, College kids, families. No worries.

On the other hand, the drinking age is 16.

Pisses my kids off no end when we go to the US…

I love meeting people at Houlihans, drinking and doing shots while getting rowdy. Then i look around the crowded bar and see nerdy parents walking in with babies and baby seats and it’s after 9PM. Honestly WTF?

To all the parents that do that, Grow the fuck up. There is Adult time and there is Kids time. A Bar is not a place for a little kid. And i Make a point of being extra belligerent with profanity flowing like poetry in the course of talking next to the said nerd parents. I dare them to say anything to me, but they never do. Sad.

And yes i have 2 sons. I am a parent. I would not bring my boys to a bar with different savory and unsavory characters of either sex under the influence of Alcohol.

That’s the way it is here too.

Most bars here survive the day through restaurant service. I don’t recall the exact time of switching from restaurant to bar but it’s around 8pm, at which point kids are not allowed.

Funny thing is with St. Paddy’s day coming up, the pubs here will be packed with whole families all day. I guess it’s partly a cultural thing, but the Irish and British type pubs here are happy to have kids around and nobody is worried about drinking in front of them. But as I said later in the evening there’s a legal age requirement.

In Pa. if it’s a bar restaurant, you can take your kids to at least 9pm but they can’t sit at the bar. If it’s a restaurant with a separate bar, they can stay in the rstaurant as late as, but the bar is a no no after 9 , I’m sure.

But I agree with you, keep kids out of bars. Where I live the taverns I go to tend to be bar/restaurants and they tend to be as safe as playgrounds if you’re there in the correct hours.

Stupid tosser hipsters and their sense of entitlement.

Same thing here in rural Illinois. In short, I think it really depends on the time of day. Our local watering hole serves awesome cheeseburgers and has several big tvs. I have spent many a Saturday evening with my teenage son watching hockey or college football while we eat lunch/dinner at the bar. Hell, I even held my friend’s 2 month-old baby while they ate dinner (single chicks and MILFs eat that shit up). That said, seeing a small kid sitting on a stool next to the town drunk while he throws back several dozen fingers of bourbon when they should be in bed just makes me cringe.

OK I am a parent. I can see going to a local sports bar. Where they serve good food and drinks. You get social and see other people. Cause you need adult contact. OK

But an actually bar bar. NO fucking way. Kids should not be inside a place where showing them alcoholism type behavior is ok and acceptable. There are tons of dangers for a kid in a bar. Personally I tend to think what kinda scum exposes a kid to that. Maybe children services should be involved.

Hey I’m of Irish and German descent so I grew up drinking alcohol (Pops put 10oz Pearls, giving my age here, in my baby bottle to put me to sleep). He would take me to the VFW when I was still too short to see over the edge of the billiard tables and like Brad’s grandfather he’d give me some quarters or take me to sit with the guys playing dominos, but I wasn’t hanging out at “the bar.” That’s where the men (and some women, member I said VFW here) sat to have a few, reminisce (sp), and catch up. It’s not a place for children.

I think in a place like where Push is from, seems pretty remote from the picture from his back porch), things ARE different. The local bar may be one of the only places where people get together. But I also believe the behavior in a place like that is vastly different from say Brooklyn.

No people it is not responsible to take your children to a bar when the average patron is there to get his/her drink on.

LOL,I can imagine. “What the FUCK do ya mean I cant have a bud? I can drink you under the table, asshole!”

All I ca say is that the bars should be left to their own to decide whether kids should be or shouldnt be in bars. f I was a parent,Id probally NOT take em to a bar. People go to bar to shot the shit with the boys or pick up whores, its not a daycare. New York is strange.

Anyone in the UK or Ireland want to weigh in about kids in pubs? I don’t see a problem with it where there are rules that say no kids after 5 or 7 or on certain days. It seems to me there are enough bars around that you can have some that allow kids and some that don’t and nobody has to get their knickers in a twist.

Ok, everybody;

Before continuing this thread, look at the picture of the man in OP’s post, and ask yourself this question.

“Is this man a pathetic loner trying to use his cute kid as a way of getting some ass?”

When I was in Amsterdam, my friend and I walked into an establishment and up to the bar. The place was PACKED. We hear “what you guys want?” The kid behind the bar could not have been older than 6. We did a doubletake but went ahead and ordered anyway. A bartender ran over to us as the kid was struggling to open the bottles. Funny shit though.

The place was basically a giant hot box. It reeked of weed. After looking around, we saw numerous babies and kids, from babies in strollers to kids playing video games. It was a weird experience. I got drunk anyway…

Stop going to the yuppie bars. I never see children in the dives I frequent.

Or expand your horizons and go to a gay bar. No babies in those places, either.
