Hi comrades. What results have you guys had from adding a B complex to your nutrition? My multivitamin contains the B vitamins but only in the minimum daily amounts (some B complexes go up to 7000% of the daily amount for some of the Bs). I noticed that, these days I keep feeling like the body is ready to train hard, but the mind can not focus on the task, or vice-versa. E.g. I may go to the gym but I feel depleted and weak, and can’t get “fired up” for the exercise.
This isn’t overtraining because it seems to happen when I’ve rested, and there’s no reduction in performance (I am able to lift as heavy as or heavier than last time when I finally try). I kind of feel like my mind isn’t activating the full potential of my body or something.
I was watching this video
and Leroy is a big fan of the B vitamins. Could they help me out to focus better and get more “fired up”, and less depleted? Thanks for any help.
Saw this video ages ago and ended up buying some vitamin b-complex. Cant really comment on how effective it is since i stopped taking it after 2 days. Reasons were because it changed the color of my urine from a light yellow to neon yellow (its like my piss could glow in the dark!) which scared the hell outta me, furthermore the guy who sold it to me warned me that u gotta cycle this stuff since it can damage brain function if consistently taken.
My uneducated opinion would be that like most supplements its for people with a medical deficiency and not the average healthy Joe who works out. If you are having problems “focusing your mind” as you say you are, its clear that the warning i was given about it damaging neural function has some validity. Perhaps it would be better if you stopped taking it.
I’m more interested in his claims about enzymes and now I want to know how you can help your body produce more of them.
@yoda, I take a b complex everyday and don’t have neon yellow piss. I think vitamins can vary a lot based on what they are made of and maybe you just bought something that wasn’t very good quality. I’ve also never heard of any brain damage from b vitamins

I haven’t taken a B complex yet, and I was just thinking of taking one to help with my lack of focus. Remember that the B vitamins are water soluble. That means that you piss out any extra that you don’t need. It seems like that is what you experienced.
I don’t know about those yeast supplements. I haven’t found any data that suggests that you actually absorb the nutrients from that yeast as well or better than vitamins. Plus they’re expensive as hell.
You can’t even tell what type of vitamins are actually put into the yeast. Could be the cheapest, least bioavailable kinds.
If you want the most bio available full B vitamin complex it would be in liver. If you want to take them in pills take desiccated liver pills. They are cold formed so it is like taking the whole food without the connective tissue and fat while nothing is denatured. They also have vitamin A, C, D, 9 minerals and god knows how many other helpful nutritional factors. Look into Pigment P-450 in them that has recently been researched. They are the only supplement besides free form amino acids and caffeine that has given me any noticeable results
Are you a professional athlete? You could get your blood work done even if you aren’t and see if you are vitamin B-12 deficient. You could be getting enough in your vitamins but just not absorbing it well. There’s some people who can’t absorb vitamin b-12 well and have to get a specific type called Methylcobalamin to avoid deficiency. You could get blood work done and see if that may be a problem. Wouldn’t hurt to see how your vitamin levels are etc. Most people get more than enough vitamin b-12 as long as they have sufficient high quality protein. Once you rule out you don’t have a deficiency I’d recommend using caffeine if you aren’t already supplementing. I use about 200mg 15-30 mins before a lift coupled with beta-alanine to get me pumped up.
I forgot to add: once you get your sufficient vitamin B-12, I haven’t noticed any benefit in supplementing additional vitamin b-12. I have also not seen any studies that suggest there is a benefit. More is not always better. YMMV.
