I’m conflicted. After Signs I vowed to never watch another M. Night Shammalammadingdong film, but the reviews are making me think I’d enjoy Airbender, for all the wrong reasons.
I do feel bad though for people who have followed the series and had expectations.
See it, Doug! Don’t be afraid! We don’t need another hero.

They can still save the trilogy. No M. Night for the next two movies
That and shoot the casting director for Sokka and Katara.
Keep Iroh and Zuko. They actually worked very well together on screen.

And give the eskimos speaking roles.
Since you’ve seen the movie, you can listen to this podcast.

I agree with that review completely. Adding white actors to this movie in those specific roles did manage to fuck it up almost by itself. They just seemed out of place in that world. You just do not expect to see Mrs. Clever hanging with the Eskimos in an igloo. It was a mistake trying to Hollywood-up this movie.
I watched the series WAITING for the next episode. I remember buying the dvd’s and checking Walmart every month for the next in the series.
This movie was not like that. I am not anxious for what’s next…because this was simply a summary of the real show. The heart was missing.
He should have either stuck to the script or left it alone. He had a chance to showcase some real Asian talent here but chose to make two of the main characters just fluff with a “hollywood look”.

I actually bought the first season and watched all of it. I’m jonesing for the 2nd season, but I didn’t see it at Wal-Mart.
I’m not sure what else can be said. I give it a low C at best. If I was an Avatar fan before hand, I’d probably go with a D minus.
10 times better than Eclipse.
