Or new math.
Funny thing, after all of these vids it cues up Tool “invincible” as the next to watch.
That Al Gorithum fella they have working at YouTube knows what time it is.
Edit: I dug up some jits training pics from friendly rolls.
Here’s me tooling on a new guy.
Here’s me getting smashed by a brown belt.
Sooooo I’ve been very, very inconsistent with training recently. I’m seriously out of shape by my standards, and I’m a bit embarrassed to be sharing this one, but I’m working on staying motivated. I’ve got Texas Strongest Man in 6 weeks and I really need to get my ass ready for it in a hurry. There’s a max Frame deadlift in the contest, and the goal is 800+. So, here’s a 700 deadlift from this weekend. I’ll share 800 when I hit it.
On the heavy frame deadlifts, how do you feel about moving the grip to the front or back of the handles so it comes off the ground uneven (either front or back first, depending on your preference)? Some say it helps because you don’t have to pull the full weight until you’re much higher in the lift. But it can obviously make balance more difficult. Just wondering if you’ve tried it and what you thought.
I had a response in mind for why I do it this way, but I took a little time to think about it more, and I watched some youtube videos, and now I’m thinking there may very well be an advantage to what you’re suggesting. I’ll try it and let you know.
On a recent vid, Martins Licis said he was telling Benedikt Magnusson that when deadlifting for reps, the 2nd rep was always easier than the 1st…so Magnusson told him to just start with rep 2.
You’re well on your way to setting WRs in deadlifting.
Admittedly, my legs are the weakest point of my physique but I’ve been desperately getting them up to standard, at least to balance my body out. They are coming a long nicely, especially the glutes. I"m obsessed with hip thrusts.
I work out to look good, not to get closer to god like a lot of people here.
Most casual lifters are the same. Mine aren’t the best either. I’m hitting cardio and metabolic circuits and kind of doing my own thing for my own purposes too. I feel pretty good, but look like a bag of lumpy tapioca at this point.
Eh, what ever floats one’s boat, you know? Some of these guys are doing freakin great. If they reach Nirvana or Valhalla in the process, even better, right?
For sure. I used to love that feeling, it’s same thing runners get - that “high” only more dangerous because you can snap your back lol
Overclocking myself isn’t fun to me anymore though. Too much shock to the nervous system. I don’t know how some of these guys do it, I wouldn’t be able to do anything else for the rest of the day.
Wow! 55?! You look much younger and you are so much stronger than random girls. You inspire me!! <3
Different stroke for different folks. I wouldn’t enjoy my gym time anymore if I wasn’t training to compete. I got into lifting to look good, but that stopped motivating me a long time ago. I’d rather chase world records, and if I beat myself up in the process, so be it.
For weight training I have to hit it early evening, sweet spot being 6:30-7:00 start. I’ve never had a job that didn’t have rigorous physical requirements, and if you throw a weight training session in before one of my historically typical days you’d ruin both.
More recently that has calmed down, and that takes some getting used to also.
Dude, hell yeah!
Thanks!
Soooo, you’re doing more cardio now?
Nice job!
Apparently! I went back to the 5/3/1 hardgainer template because I think that is where I saw the progress. Thanks!
