August '19 Photo/Video Check-In

Well, first at all- I’m a big girl and I’ve been training for 12 years. But I have myopia (I wear eyeglasses with high diopters -4D) and I’m carefull with weights - don’t do max reps or any strenght programs. If I try some strenght program, probably I’ll bench 80 kg for reps.

Yeah you have a good upper body which is alas too rare among females

Very , very impressive weight, but I think this is a dangerous form. Too much spine and lumbar flexion. You must try to execute the movement with a neutral spine even if it’s 1PM. With better form and more active glutes and hamstrings you will be stronger,

All is true  34 cm (13 in) biceps
But it’s necessary to train like hell. I got bigger and stronger when I started to train hard enough and frequently.

Like you, I’ve been training and competing in powerlifting for well over 10 years. Flexion isn’t an issue if there is no continued movement in flexion. What you should look for is whether your spine continues flexion as the bar rises. I may not be wording that well.

You know what really bothers my back? Sitting at work.

Crom laughs at you powerlifters and your good form deadlifts.

He laughs from his mountain.

If I were to listen to Crom then my lower back would laugh at me :frowning:

Here’s some sloppy form. I haven’t filmed any lifts for a while, largely because my lifting has been inconsistent since taking up BJJ. I pulled 565 last night at the same weight I was in this video and it probably looked pretty similar. Strength is down a bit but I move way better from the jits. One of these days I’ll get back on the no beer kick and drop another 30-40 lbs, but it is not this day.

You look thinner in your avatar.

That’s actually an entirely different drug-addled person. I don’t think Hunter Thompson lifted!

Sounds like you don’t know the answer to the riddle of steel.

I suppose I need to bring my phone to the gym and get some new video to put up in here. I don’t think I’ve filmed training for at least two years.

I was going to say that it was the beard making him look heavy, but he ruined my joke, too. Anyway, I got it, and thought you were very funny.

Just turned fifty-one. Maybe just coincidence, but the week of my birthday deadlift and squat did not go as well as planned. Pulled 435 and only got two reps (the plan was 5), and squatted 400 for 3, where the plan was 6.

Thank you. I feel like the perpetual straight woman. I’m much more entertaining in person.

Then you have nothing to fear.

Happy birthday. I’m coming 55 soon and it doesn’t seem to improve. I’ve had many days recently where one rep flies up but the second just will not happen.

Start your sets at 2 rather than 1.

Muscle confusion.
