Do I really need to post a picture of myself getting older and fatter?

It would make me feel a lot better, so yes.

Yep.

yes.

Froma few days ago. Not bad considering my lifestyle this summer.

My goals were professional this year, but I still feel I got better, physically, and a bit in terms of performance (cardio and power way better though).

I really think that feeling great into your head really helps with your physique, even if some variables aren’t ideals.

If you try something new, it’s a PR. Even if you aren’t as good at it as you would have been when you were younger.

Well said, but I feel like I might still have some PRs left in me with the usual stuff? We shall see.

Anyway, I prefer action photos, so here are some ugly MUs.

As muscle ups and great agility goes, that’s a win.

But for old and fat it’s a pretty hard fail. Sorry man.

Yes, I fail because I am old and fat…I believe we are on the same page.

There must be a language barrier her between proper English and what ever it is that I do.

For more tips and tricks on olding and fatting, see my diet/lifting log.

No misunderstanding, I just enjoy being falsely self-deprecating.

Nah mixed. Eating meat again for about three months I wanna say? But like I’m just eating for performance right now. Not counting protein just trying to fill up on meat or veg or fruit as my base

I’ll be there with ya soon. I’m about 2 years away.

If he smoked all the other events, then he shouldn’t have been doing novice. But if he was a great squatter and couldn’t pick a 250 stone, then he was in the right place. And honestly, I’m not gonna fault ANYONE who chooses novice for their first show, no matter how strong they are. You don’t know how strong you are relative to the competition until you actually do it.

fucking nailed it here. I see too many guys saying ‘I want to hit x y and z numbers before I do a strongman show’. It’s poor logic. This sport is so much more about athleticism and movement than most people realize.

I watched your videos. We can talk about technique on your log or something if you want, but just cliff notes from what I saw: 1. fuck that car deadlift. That’s way too light, and exactly why promoters shouldn’t use cars unless they know what they are doing and test A LOT. 2. Your log clean looks way too much like a barbell clean. It’s not going to work when the log gets heavy. You need to spend a lot of time with the log to get that right. However, your axle will benefit from that technique. 3. You know what you did with the husafel. I’m actually impressed you got as far as you did with as high as you gripped it. That was gutsy. Well done.

For the log clean, I was hip cleaning it because it was the only way I could do it without aggravating my bicep. I tried the belly clean a few times, but I wasn’t very good at it and my bicep would be inflamed for about 3 days. It’s definitely something I’m starting to practice again now that I’m mostly healed up.

Husafell, I just never really got to practice because I haven’t had one light enough to d any real volume on. I am going to try picking it and bumping it up before I go because I’m not sure how to pick it any lower. I already bought materials to make one.

Agreed. My point is less that he definitely should or shouldn’t be in the novice class. My point is that there is no clarity around what the novice class means. I think a good solution would be to just not give awards for the novice class. If you want to come for the experience, or to do something to challenge yourself, go for it. If you want an award, you have to go open.
