Big Man - smart training… settle back, re-group, rest and assault the hill again!
Trying my best, Paul.
Somehow my sleep cycle has gotten screwed up. Not sure if it is because it is getting light earlier or what.
I need to get that figured out, though.
Bench Day - Strick version of a deload
Bench
Barx30
95x10
135x10
185x5
225x5
275x5
315x5 - normal grip
315x2 - MP Grip
Stopped there… Not really a lighter weight than recently, but less intensity. 7 reps at or above 315# instead of 15.
Whew! That woukd have been real close to cardio!
No worries, CL. I have a moral opposition to cardio.
Back Day
Nothing. Just got up, decided I had enough to do today and it was a deload week anyway. So, I didn’t go.
And I don’t feel guilty about it at all.
And last night was the first good night of sleep I had gotten this week. Hoping tonight follows suit and it becomes a trend!
back up on MP again? 315…never understood how a man of your frame size could do that…LOL ![]()
HA…
I was scrolling through your thread and I saw what looked like two bears cutting wood. You boys are thick (in a good way). No wonder you MP so much.
Bulldog, this petite frame is feeling it too!
Paul, you know me too well. I can’t ever really do a proper deload. It is either a slight scale back, like Saturday, or just take the day off, like Sunday.
Steve, we definitely aren’t small. And it definitely isn’t all in a good way! That’s nearly 600# of “boys” splitting that wood.
Back in the gym tomorrow. MP Day… Gonna play it by ear.
MP Day
Had some issues today and they were definitely neural. Back is becoming a problem. Gonna see if I can get it back under control with ibuprofen. Barring that, I might be at the Dr. before I had planned.
Lexie’s Workout
Bench Press
barx10x2
65x5
85x3
100x1
95x1
75x5x2
Seated Row Machine
90x10x3
She managed to get through the workout without her wrist causing too much pain.
100# was a near max lift for her. She has some form issues we need to work on, not the least of which being exploding off her chest, that would help immensely.
Me
Military Press
Barx10 - 20 front and 10 behind the neck
95x10
135x10
175x5
205x5
235x5
255x5 - legs tried to buckle on the 5th rep and weight almost came back down on my head. Caught it and got the rep done
275x2 - legs tried to buckle again, at the start of the 3rd rep.
This was not a case of tired legs. This was definitely neural. Kind of lost full control over them for a second…they felt tingly and almost like a mild shock went through them. Kind of scary with 275# in my hands.
Reverse Flyes
60x10
60x8
45x10x2
DB Laterals
35x10
30x10
Mixed with
DB Front Raises
25x10x2
Wow! Scary is NEVER a good thing. Hope you figure out what’s going on.
that sucks Skip…hope it passes ( or moves back in hiding) quickly…keep the faith Big Man.
Oh and Lexie’s workout- spoken like a true parent!
Are your legs even and how much of a dip are you doing when your legs buckle?
Dr is good idea at this point. You lift much more than the average lifter.
I always suspected you were special. I say this with love.
I kid. I think I’m mostly jealous of your utterly ridonkulous pressing.
Thanks all…
Harry, my legs are even. And I am not dipping at all. I am keeping them straight. Not locked back, but not using them for push…like standing at attention. It is more of losing the ability to keep everything locked, when it happens. It is either when the weight is coming down and stops, or when I explode up…both being the points of most compression on the spine. It just feels like I can’t keep them locked, for a second, and that they are going to buckle, like an accordion. Seem to feel it the most in my hips and upper quads.
Biker, I need to see him. I know I do. As my wife is about to have surgery to fuse her L5/S1, though, both of us can’t be down at the same time.
Mr. K, I am definitely special…and in exactly the way you alluded to. Fortunately, I take pride in it…lol.
Bench Day
No Lexie. She has settled in to Wednesdays and Sundays.
Decided to not go above 315#. I think, until I get my back sorted out, I will stick with a top weight of 315# on bench and 245# on MP. We’ll see if I can stick to it.
Bench
Barx30
95x10
135x10
185x5
225x5
275x5
315x5x3
Tried narrow grip bench for the 1st time in eons. Narrow grip as in both hands fully on the smooth middle portion of the bar. I had no idea what weight to start with. Shot way too low.
NGB
135x15
185x12
Face Pulls - alternating hand inside and outside
115x10x4
100x12
Called it a day.
I think that is smart until you know what’s up with the back.
Happy Father’s Day. Hope you have a good one!
Skip, hope you had a memorable day with the Tribe! All the Best
