Why not train with a deadlift bar to mimic meet conditions?

well I don’t own a deadlift bar so that makes it difficult, but I guess I just figured pulling on a stiffer/more difficult bar will make a competition bar feel like a toy. Hopefully it works.

By the way, your RAW progress has been awesome. Does it have anything to do with stallion being a huge prick way back when in your squat thread?
I bet you would smash some serious weight in an unequipped meet if you re-learned wraps.
Haha I’d like to say no…but yea that kinda lit a fire under my ass, I’m surprised you remember. The other major reason is there are no big raw meets in North America that allow wraps so if I want to compete in major competitions I needed to learn to squat without them eventually.
I doubt I’ll use wraps but maybe if I thought I had a shot at 600+ I might throw them on again
I took Weds off in preparation of some big squatting tonight and I was not disapointed. Hit 230kg without a belt, I even made a point of wearing my rehband sleeves instead of the EFS ones. Very, very, very stoked about this. I feel like in order to squat 250 in a meet I want 235-240 in the gym. I’ve started following an abriviated version of the Anello deadlift routine, this week called for a 510 pull, ideally I’d like to use a squat bar or standard bar for most of this cycle but the deadlift bar was in use so I just pulled on that, didn’t feel great but not hard by any means.
Bench PR tonight, worked on keeping a decent length pause on all my reps. I let the bar touch a little lower than I usually do on the last rep so I might have heaved it a bit, whatever 325 went up smooth and felt pretty easy. I think 330+ is there. Hellraisers sucked balls, I couldn’t get back on to my heels as much as I wanted and my back was pretty tired so keeping tight was hard, overall got some good work in though.

Excellent overall numbers (which is useful for totals I guess??!), especially impressed with the squatting. I’ll be following
Thanks man, I appreciate the support.
Haha, for a raw lifter I feel dead, squat and bench are the order of importance for a big total, luckily that seems to be how I’m built. But the squat has definately been progressing better than the other two the past few months.
