I cant perform regular bw GHR, but would like to start working toward it. I want to do these on my ME day at the end of the workout, should I do some negatives, with a pushup at the end or some form of assisted GHR.
I was thinking I could use a resistance band and have someone behind me hold it?
Do them on lat pulldown machine - facing away from the machine, kneeling where you would sit and your feet under the pad that would hold your knees down.
Pull the bar down behind your neck and keep actively pressing it there - now simply perform some GHR’s!
Obviously the greater the weight you select the easier the GHR.
A few people have caught onto this idea (but not many)… an example of someone doing it with a rope attachment is here:
my GHRs are at home and involve my bedpost and two towels, one beneath my knees and one on my ankles !
I haven’t done any iso hamstring movements before, most strong squatters (both oly and PL) can do many of these for reps? Are there other tests of relative hamstring strength and a good guide relative to your squat and other major lifts? I am curious now, my hamstrings have gotta be lagging behind major!
Thanks benmore, thats awesome. I had heard about doing them on the pulldown machine, but didnt realize you actually used machine for assistance. Thats simply awesome, doing them tommorow.
