Robots have been roaming the streets of Iraq, since shortly after the war began. Now, for the first time – the first time in any warzone – the machines are carrying guns.
Dehumanized war, anyone?

I’d rather lose a robot.

That’s cool. A robot can’t panic out of fear for it’s life. And, I don’t see soldiers losing their cool after a robot rolls over a mine, etc. Which is all good for civilians. Seems it’s purpose is to make everyone safer.

Somehow, I’m uncomfortable with the making killing a banal thing. It’s gonna turn into a very realistic first person shooter. It sure the hell out of a Wii or anything of the sort. Kids may join just for that exhilarating feel.
If this becomes standard – and it will – there’s little to deter you from invading every country that’s too weak to strike back (read 90% of the world).

lixy,
Please don’t ever try to convince us that you aren’t an unreasoning, U.S. hater.
Of course, there is SOMETHING stopping us from invading and taking all of your things: Our sense of justice.
If we didn’t have it, we’d invade Canada tomorrow, utilize all their resources, and make them pay all the taxes. They’d foot the invasion and holding costs.

I thought you didn’t like our boys dieing? Pick a POV please.
This sort of thing has been in testing at Huntsville, AL for years. Lixy should begin preparing a rant for when he sees the larger, more capable versions of drones.
Also, we have hybrid-electric hummers and M1 Abrams tanks. Why a Hybrid Hummer? It’s a 250,000 watt capacitor with a frickin lazer. Dr Evil would be so proud.
EXCELLENT!!! Hurry up and develope the terminators.

Well, if we’re destined to take on 90% of the world, as you say, this seems to be a fine investment. We’ll need these robo-warriors to fill out our force level. I only hope the Wii manufacturers can produce enough Wii controllers. That, or we’ll have to look into getting a military contract with those Play-Station fellas. And, I suppose EB games will be a hot spot for military recruitment. Great Scott! I believe you’re onto something here!

Cyberdine! Hope I spelled that correctly…
Apparently, they had a lot of problems getting the robots to work in Iraq.
They kept getting the message:

[b]Illegal War Error.

At last!!
Warn your friends…no pity, no remorse, they will pull your heart of your chest while it’s still beating.
Our robot planes are even more deadly.

But you don’t have a problem with IED’s, car bombs, or hijacked planes?
I’m pretty sure you would bitch if you were hung with a new rope - especially if it was made in the U.S.A.

Well, MQ-1 Predators have been around for a while now. They’re very capable when it comes to dropping deadly bombs (the correctly named AGM-114 Hellfire comes to mind).

Of course I do, you imbecile!

The hellfire is a missle not a bomb. It isn’t dropped on a target it is fired at it.
It is apparent your knowledge of most subjects is only “Wikpedia Deep” at best. You calling anyone an imbecile is ironic.
The Predator was not designed to be armed. It was an add-on. Very useful for taking out Islamic terrorists as you are no doubt aware. The next generation will be much more deadly.

And what is the difference between shooting robots and a bomber pilot pressing a button at 10,000 feet and taking out an entire city? War has been dehumanized since we got the bomb.

I’ll have you know that that particular definition of a bomb (i.e: airdropped, unpowered explosive weapons) is nothing more than military jargon. Outside of that circle, a missile still falls under the “bomb” category.
I shouldn’t have used the term “dropped” though.
Yeah, those silly editors failed to mention the Hellfire was a missile. Oh wait…
I called Rainjack an imbecile because he implied that I’m OK with car bombs and airplane hijacks.
Really? I was under the impression that the next generation was supposed to launch roses and violets? Oh well…
That little robot should be the least of your concerns lixy, there is a far more lethal squadron in Iraq these days,
Can you say skynet.
