Arm Size and Torso Thickness

This is a visual proportion question. When viewed from the side in a relaxed pose, should your arm appear to cover nearly all of your torso thickness?

This is how it seems to look to me but I had not paid that much attention to it in the past. I just want to double check my observations.

(For clarity this is different than arm verse chest size since chest size includes width as well as thickness.).

This is a relaxed side pose in bodybuilding. It is irrelevant how much area your arm covers because your arm doesn’t need to be by your side. Bodybuilding isn’t just a game of measurements.

Thanks.

I understand that it is not all about measurements, which is why I was concerned with the visual aspect of it. The pose I had in mind is more like the guys behind him.

Professor I believe that he is referring to someone just standing relaxed with their arms at their side, sort of like those crappy photos that they have for all those fake weight loss adds. Such as in the attached photograph.

As for the answer to your question, I believe it to be a matter of opinion. As well as that it depends on your overall size as I do not believe that you grow in the same proportions, what I am thinking and relating very poorly via words is that there is no definite answer to your question.

Okay, thanks.

I knew what he was referring to and again it is irrelevant.

My chest/back grow faster than my arms and I am currently playing catch-up. All I was looking for is some sort of marker that I could use to evaluate when ‘caught-up’ happens. My arms have been lagging for long enough that I do not trust my own opinion on the matter. Thats all. Thanks for the clarification.

Generally speaking, if your chest is over 50", your arms should probably be 18 and over to look equally impressive. Of course, that is just my opinion from what I’ve seen on my own body.

Thanks again, that is helpful.
