Are YOU a Two Headed Freak?

i get looks on heavy squat day. i guess anyone working out with more than 4 plates is interesting or something…oh yeah and apparently wearing chucks while squatting is unusual, too (news to me)

I get looks and comments but not in a competitive smirking way. At least I don’t think it is.

Two recent comments:

 • Doing deadlifts a young guy asked how I had learned to do it since it wasn’t typically a ‘girls’ exercise. He did air quotes around girl.

-Doing pullups another young guy asked me if I did gymnastics since most girls don’t have so much upper body strength.

I’m never sure how to respond since I feel like an oddball or how to even answer their questions. I think they’re trying to be complimentary because they’re not going to compete against a woman anyway.

No. Everybody at my gym stopped looking at me when I workout. Now they just point and laugh.

it’s probably 2+ plates at my gym. or if you actually go deep regardless of weight.

That would be wicked to see a girl deadlifting.

However, I had a guy standing out in front of my house on the ice the other day watching me snatch. 100 feet away just staring into my house.
I can see that. It is a very impressive and powerful looking movement.

Goofs? I get stared at every time I train pretty much anywhere I train. This is bodybuilding. The goal is to stand out.

People are staring at you because they are either impressed, repulsed, amused, or are waiting on you to kill yourself publicly.
Doing shit like losing my balance on overhead squats and having the bar come crashing down isn’t exactly helping to draw attention away from me either! :stuck_out_tongue:

The same thing happens to me but then I’ve got an arm coming out of my ass.
Well… crying in front of everybody at your gym about your worming passing away isn’t helping you very much.

Maybe he looks through other peoples windows at snatches

Yea man, I totally know what you mean. I was like triple ATG squatting with like 7 plates on, and everyone was staring at me. Do you want to know what I said? I said, “Listen fellas, I’m a T-Nation member, I’m the most hardcore person you will ever see.” (keep in mind I’m only 120 pounds)

I love how these threads turn into the “I’m hardcore because I deadlift and ATG squat” (or so I think I ATG squat) threads.

If you deadlift and atg squat, good for you…you’re obviously training correctly. You don’t need to describe how badass you are for doing it.

Also, people may stare at you for doing these things…but what if they’re staring at you because you’re an idiot…or maybe you’re testicles are hanging out. Maybe you act like an asshole or walk around with ILS. You may think you’re all that because you post on a message board, but in reality, you are probably yelling your ass off DB rowing a 60lb dumbbell. Check yourself.

…Now if you know you are a big/strong guy, you will know why people are staring at you. If you don’t know why people are staring at you, read the previous paragraph.

Better yet…a dead girl lifting.

Come to think of it, it would be pretty hard to lift a dead girl…that might get some looks.

Yeah, OK, so tell them your sister passed out from lifting during her period, shoulder hoist her, and make sure NOBODY sees you put the body in your trunk.

Most people grossly overestimate how much attention other people are paying them

No we don’t.

For instance I know that the rugby players in a scrum are all talking crap about me

Maybe, if it weren’t for the simple fact that he has a cabbage for a head
