Are People Here Not Trying Very Hard?

I have never heard of someone brand new to lifting squat well over 2x body weight. That sounds like world class power/oly lifter freak shit.

Oh, but to answer your question, yes, I’m sure your 2 months of training probably put you at the top of the dedication/intensity spectrum here.

If your strength claims are correct, then you are certainly uncommonly strong for someone who basically just started training 2 months ago (except maybe on the bench).

However, whether you are gifted genetically… Too early to tell, really. You may have some genetic advantage when it comes to strength.

I personally hope that you stick around and keep at it hard. Learn about proper setup etc for your lifts (easy to mess yourself up on the big three etc), read up some on diet (Dante and co are whom I’d listen to, but that’s just me) and stay the hell away from training articles…

In a year or two you’ll pretty much know if you are truly gifted or not.

Bit of an awkward start (provided you’re not a troll, that is), but maybe you can turn things around.

looks like you need to strip 3 inches of fat off those arms…
Agreed. You’re so proud about your 18 inch arms that are covered in bacon. Listen, if you were to drop down to a level of leanness which allowed you to display even a degree of muscularity, your arms would most likely be around 14-15 inches from the looks of it.

this seems just like a Celtics thread… I miss that guys threads

Lol, yes my arms ARE 18" but look nowhere near it… anyway i’ve put myself out there now, so i’ve got to prove the people who keep saying my lifts are bullshit wrong. I’m at home now… so the only one I can justify right now is dumbell curling the 64lb dumbells for 8-10 reps…

I actually hit 15 reps a minute ago, but kept getting the camera angle wrong, so the one i filmed I only ended up with 6 or something. –

with hammer curls I can do over 30 reps each arm with the 30kg – 64 pound dumbells.

I will prove as many of the other lifts as possible wrong tomorrow… I will be in the gym in the morning.

But even though my arms look smaller than they are… they still do measure 18" and I CAN nearly curl the 100pound dumbells for one rep.
I don’t really doubt your lifts, so I’m not sure if you’re referring to me.

I just don’t see why this thread had to be made. Why not just lay low for 2-3 years and surprise everyone?

The point of my post is not to say that I am really great. I AM NOT. I am NOTHING, but a begginer.

Yet at the same time, I see many many posters on here writing things such as “I want to get my arms to 15 inches one day” and i’m thinking “WTF, my arms are an albeit fat 18 inches, and I don’t think they look big!”

So maybe some of these guys should re-evaluate the goals they have? Why spend 1000’s of posts writing about something that you will never be good at? If you train for fun, then fine… but no point posting on a bodybuilding forum if you have 15 inch arms… but like I said I AM a begginer. Yet still have bigger arms than most people on this site — which as a BODYBUILDING forum is slightly concerning… although I am no bodybuilder … yet.

Those web cam pics give a very poor perspective of size, and well, so do all photos if not against another person e.t.c, or if not ripped. However, i’ve taken a camera photo that will give a better indicator. I might go and shave in a minute… sorry about the face aids, but I doubt that sort of thing is contagious over the internet.

I think my arms look smaller than they are b/c of 1) my higher bodyfat,-- in the same way a skinny ripped shirtless guy could look bigger in a photo shirtless than a huge fat guy! and 2) the extreme lack of peak i have b/c of very low insertion points. But the tape still reads 18" so I don’t care too much. You can see that depth wise from top to bottom it would be about the same size as the protein shaker in the background, and if you go pick up a protein shaker, it will then be clear that that is actually fairly big.

But to reiterate.

I AM NOTHING… Yet. I WILL get videos… I could do a video now actually, but only of me curling a 64lb dumbell for 8-10 reps with each arm, b/c that’s the only equipment I have in my house, oh and a coc gripper no.2 which I can close, but other than that, you guys have to wait till tomorrow. Sorry.

Regarding your biceps peak: Try supinating your wrist during a biceps pose.

I don’t see your point here. I’ll admit that i’m still small compared to most people. To say that I’m not trying hard is pretty damn insulting though. You started with a solid base, congratulations.

I started weighing 130lbs at 5’11" with an arm measurement of barely 12 inches. Some of us don’t have it that easy. I’ve put on 55lbs and little less than 3 inches on my arms. Who are you to say you’ve worked harder than I have?

Quite frankly, I can care less if you’re blessed or a troll.
But coming in here insinuating that you, who’s only been training for 2 months, is better than anyone else here who actually worked to get where they’re at… that’s just bold shit.

…because they’re actually big. As in MUSCLEs big.

I’m really not trying to be too much of a dick, but maybe the OP should worry less about what others are doing and a little more about his own journey.
Hi there, it looks like your form’s incorrect on that set of curls. It looks like you’re using your back. Congrats on the 18" arms, I’m still at 16-ish :frowning:

ya who do u think u are? come train with me. i doubt your lifts are good form at all. Prove me wrong and even then it doesnt give you an excuse to be talking like this.

When I started lifting in my 20’s, my arms only measured 14" (1st taped at the end of my 1st year in the gym). I also benched 315 after just a single year of training… but certainly didn’t look like I could. I wasted years just chasing numbers thinking that I’ll just get as strong as I can and eventually I’ll be huge. You know what? It didn’t happen. I just happened to start out at a greater strength level than most people, and in the long run, it didn’t mean sh-t. Sure you’re starting out much stronger than the typical new trainer, but you look like crap, and your attitude leaves much to be desired. As you mentioned yourself, this is a Bodybuilding forum, so no one cares how much you lift. Sure everyone likes to be able to boast of an impressive feat, but those who truly understand this pursuit realize it’s not actually the goal. All you’ve done is show that you have no clue what you’re talking about, that you’re arrogant and immature, and managed to insult people who honestly put forth their best efforts with consistency and should be respected for such whether they reach their lofty goals or not.

Your fat. Get it threw your mind. Its ok to bulk but your claiming things like 65 pound dumbell curls after 2 months of training. people that do that are usally people that become world class powerlifters, strongman etc not some fat guy that thinks his arms are big. I know what big looks when you are fat. I have seen people that are fat or have a higher bodyfat percentage. If you cut down it would be 15 16 inches which is small for a 6 foot guy.

He actually did post a video, albeit a video of curls involving lots of shoulder rotation.

isnt anyone gunna ask for a flick of the legs that squat over 450 and leg press over 100000000?

I don’t think anyone even wanted to see a flick of the arms, we don’t need to be punished with legs.

I guess it’s nice to have such a positive self image. But to be so naive… 18 inch arms don’t count when 5 of those inches flap back and forth when you wave.
